if you can get it remapped for about 200 pound it would be worth looking into, you would get really minimal gains on a stock set up my guess is 3-4bhp , but with exhaust, air intake and decat it will fix the air to fuel ratio and you should get more upto 9-10 (i might be wrong with these figures).
also if anything the perforamance aside you might make your money back from the efficiancy of the remap, it should deffinatly give you better mpg from complete combustion, better burning of the fuel.

Booked mine in with custom code for monday, i'm looking at £205 which i think is a good price.

The bloke recons i'd expect 7-9 HP extra, i'm not going to complain for that. looking to stick an air filter on later on so that should make a small difference too

looking forward to some results

Right, went to Midlands VW (Cannock) to get my remap and bad news

The chap hooked up his computer and It turns out my siemens computer system cant be remapped without getting another/additional chip/computer system which may cost 100s more and couldnt be done right away. Thankfully they didnt charge me anything

It may be different if other 1.2s have different computer systems but for mine i'm going to give it a miss. I think i might just get a K&N kit for now until i get another mk4. Are these worth it?

Shame about the re-map - must check what my ECU is...
Ask ScottHMk4 about the indcution kit, it makes a "slightly" better noise but gives very little (if any) power difference, I opted for a K&N Panel filter (Model 33-2850 i think....), gives slightly better pull in the low revs and the engine noise isn't bad either - but doesn't harm my fuel economy, the panel filter has a tendancy to cause your car to become a heavy drinker in my opinion. ;)

great noise off my k&n i loved it, fuel economy isnt great tho, hense why i sold mine and put in the panel filter that gareth is speaking about (above) my economy has got worse but i think its a problem with the car as apposed to the panel filter

stezo2k - if you want to see my fuel economy with the panel filter click my fuelly.com banner, it'll take you to the site with all the stats for my fuel usage, the panal filter was put in the car in September.

sounds pretty interesting, cheers for all the info guys :)

panel filter it is then, although i will hold out for a bit as i only replaced it a couple of months ago. a cone filter sounds interesting but if it doesnt make much of a difference theres no point

If you want a remap get a remap.I remaped my 1.2 3 weeks ago.And i can fell a tiny diference. But if you put 14"rims and a remap on a 1.2 70hp you will be very happy.I tried 0-100 after the remap and with the 14"wheels(winter) and the result was 10.5-11 sec .I think this is very good for a 1.2 .But if i put my 16"wheels(summer) the car will be mutch slower....12.5 sec(with 16" and remap). If this sounds crazy check out my vid.Cheers!!

You'd be better giving me the £200 instead of remapping a 1.2! There will be NO noticable difference; you might think there is difference because your brain is making you believe that the money spent has been worthwhile but it wasn't.

if it makes 3bhp and the same in torque is that not a gain then id say it is a differnce of 3bhp.

Hence the word "noticeable".

The car will be no faster. But hey...what is money for, if not for wasting?

If there is no diference how come i did 0-100 in 10.5-11 sec??

no offence but i dont believe that, u telling me that ur 1.2 ibiza can do 0-100 in the same time as a WRX??

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUGkY54BVwg

guy states at the top right hand he does 0-100 in roughly 10 seconds....doubtful a 1.2 can even come close.

or a dodge viper which is about 9 seconds, its a 1.2 no point making out as if this remap has made it somethig out of its league.

Missed a couple of clues there Scott... :bleh: :funk:

1. The title of the Video... Seat Ibiza 1.2 70hp 0-100 KM/H 10.5-11.0 sec

2. Does your speedo go to 220 ??

well anyways, as when i first posted the thread, we were doing this because we wanted to, not for people to tell us what a waste of time it is. but thank you for the comment gaz44.

how come they were able to remap your siemans ecu but not stezo's? who did you have it done with and how much was it?
