I am trying to find a replacement for my Ibiza Cupra TDI but I am failing to find anything as fast and economical.

Test drove a Scirocco 140GT TDI and a BMW 120d and must admit was disappointed in the performance compared to my Cupra.

I must admit I really wanted to try a 170 TDI Scirocco and a BMW 123d but the dealers did not have these models to test. Maybe if I did things may have been different.

Just wondered if anyone had tried any of these as or now of any other alternative I havent thought of?

Alfa 147 ducati corse 1.9tdi

Limited slip diff.. 200+bhp tuning potential.

Or astra with the same engine etc?

As for the bmw.. the 123d is apparently superb.. twin turbo engine..

Octavia vRS TDI. Ive just changed up from a PD100 with a remap and im impressed with the power and economy.

2.0 TDI CR engine with 170bhp. The CR engine came in around the 58-plate mark, so theres plenty out there.

Good deals to be done on them aswell. ;)

123d is a superb car but when you hit the second turbo say bye bye to the economy!

Diesel, economic and fun.. Audi TT Quatro TDi?

I have a Sportrider with a K&N panel filter and a DTE tuning box and my nephew has a Leon FR 170 DPF and to be honest it was not a lot faster than my slightly modified Ibiza. felt strangled above 3500rpm maybe this is a common thing with the 170 with DPF. No faults with the Leon i drove but needed a mod i felt to get the best from it, so maybe not what your after since the Cupri

im in the same debate atm aswell.....looked at a 330cd coupe but im just not sure with them, theres the 335d but for a nice one with the m-sport spec your talking into 24 grande +

audi a4 3.0tdi quattro ? but there around 15k for a nice s-line spec with sensible miles on

the 1 series is a gastly looking car i think.

but i know what you mean unless you turn to bmw theres not much else thats nice cheap on fuel and quick !

The problem I have is that it is through a Company lease scheme and I am restricted to 140co2 limit - so need to get the most power in that range.

123d looks good on paper but trying to get a test drive is not proving easy - the 120d didnt have the power I am used to with my Ibiza (although Ibiza is remapped).

The Scirocco was a nice drive but again I only tried the 140bhp would be interesing to try 170bhp.

interesting to try 170bhp.
I have driven a couple of 170bhp vag cars a leon FR and a Golf both were DPF vehicles and to be honest felt strangled and had a narrower power band than my 1.9tdi, but reading other articles the 2.0 16v does not seem to have the big push of torque the 1.9 has but spread over it band ?

Just test drove a BMW 123d this afternoon - bit more exciting than the 120d. Its on my list of possibles, just need to drive the 170bhp Scirocco now.

as kahn said the alfa has to be on the list to drive, i was poking around one the week really nicely kitted and seemed to well screwed together the one local to me i think has 16-17k on the clock leather etc and was only £13k
