Hi ive got a mk5 5 door sport and wondered what brakes off other models would be a straight swap and upgrade for my car, its the 1.4 sport and has BOC wheels on it.

Just wondered which would be the best/biggest upgrade i can fit without spending a fortune

Thanks in advance. .Jay

Should be able to get the TT callipers and 312mm discs on, but I'm not a pro, good that you got the Boc wheels as the clearance on them is good. I had the Seat Sport brakes fitted aftermarket and they clear the Boc wheels by about 3 mm. Without kissing techie's arse or encouraging people to pester him, PM him, he'll know straight away your options.

Thanks mate :) i just want a simple conversion without any messing about so something thats a straight swap without grinding/modifying etc just a direct bolt on replacement! What size are my standard brakes then?

why not just upgrade to the racebrakes? straight fit and about £880 for parts i think. they arnt the best tho more so for show then anything.

Well the best sorta of value the better as dont want to spend loads as havent got loads of power, a whole 85bhp lol, i just want a bit more response and them to fill the wheels a bit more tbh

Love my brakes, better than original, stop the Boc adequately, ibizaracebrake has proved that they aren't full racing brakes, but better than standard for sure.

So what would the size difference be between those and mine? wasnt quite looking to spend £800-£900 tbh but if i saved up i guess itll be fine, they a direct bolt on for mine then as it isnt a cupra/boc just a 5 door sport.

oh yea deff better then standard but £800ish is quite steap spose, have you tryed any other websites to see if they do any conversions? i would have thought tt brakes are quite expensive unless you went down 2nd hand route but then again you still would need pads and discs.

Cheers mate and im guessing these would be alot cheaper to buy than the £800-£900 seat racing brakes brand new?

As could prob buy some of them 2nd hand and tidy them up etc?

Can get discs/pads/hoses cheap enough through a mate brand new but its just finding some calipers/carriers complete, was thinking i could go 2nd hand and tidy them up etc and itll prob work out alot cheaper for me?

yea its probs your best bet if you can find a tt in the scrapy or ebay, and aslong as they fit ok, mike said they will. if you do buy them 2nd hand make sure they are the correct sizes before you buy becuase theres gonna be atleast 2-3 different sizes i would have thought. And make sure the calipers arnt siezed or leaking, and the carriers arnt covered in rust from being stored somewhere.

Mate thats wicked :) thanks for that link, does anyone know the standard size of mine as on the ebay site he says he does kits to make them a direct bolt on for 288mm set ups?

That basically means it will bolt straight on as they come with calipers and carriers! Your standard discs would be 288mm I believe but you will really see the benefit of fitting these. That's what I'm hoping for anyway! For example, the Mk4 Golf with the 288mm brakes and these 312mm brakes use the same calipers (if they are ATE ones) just different carriers! That's why people are always trying to get hold of just the carriers on ebay and Edition38 etc.

Very populr upgrade with the Mk4 Ibiza lot as I have said previosuly and much cheaper than the Mk4 Cupra SEAT Sport brakes.

Looking good mate, how much did yours set you back then? i noticed on that link you gave me he does just the calipers and carriers kit for £145 so could then fit some uprated discs and pads which i can get for decent prices

Think im going to go for some of them then next week as said i havent got the most power in the world but like good suspension and brake combo regardless, and going the ring in september with a local club so want summit decent :)

The calipers were £80, paint £10 and new seals £20! So they won't be much cheaper than his sets really.... but I have done them myself!
