Can anyone tell me the bhp of the Formula Sport model?

Hi there im thinking about getting a 2007 (57) Seat Ibiza 1.4 Formula Sport as my first car but at first I thought it had 85 bhp but now I think it might have 100bhp.
So can anyone tell me which it is?

Its a quick car for a first car, probably as quick as your going to go without insurance being unmanageable.

The standard 1.4s have 75hp so 100 is a good improvement. Apparently the standard 1.4s aren't that responsive but i wouldn't know

i would testdrive and get a quote for the 1.9pd100 and 130 sport aswell . Its bad enough having to pay for the petrol prices when your just a bit quicker than the dervs but the pd engines are a better buy than the na petrol imo .

Yeah diesels the way IMO, insurance is still really cheap as well as the fuel. They remap beatifully too, most cars can get around 30hp extra

At the moment I simply cant afford the insurance for a 1.9 or the car itself so for my first car I think the 1.4 will be perfect. Then in 2 or 3 years im hopefully gonna upgrade to a Cupra.

My insurance on my PD100 1.9TDI was cheaper than a 100bhp Petrol.

yeah but you have also got to remember that the cost to buy a diesel is always more than the equivilent petrol so maybe the cost of the diesel would work out more on the long run

that is quite cheap for a derv, prices up in scotland do tend to be higher tho, so that what probably made me go for the petrol. would really like diesel tho, but i would rather spend my money on other things

I've had a 75bhp model and now own a Formula Sport. It's easily one of the nicest cars out of my group of friends. I always get comments on how nice the interior and seats are!

I reckon its a very nippy car. It's around the same 0-60 as the average 1.4. Its a powerful 1.4, but the added weight slows it down so its just average.
If you learn how to drive it properly (like I have ) I find its fast enough! It'll take on most 1.6's! (Not like I've ever raced a 1.6, thats naughty and should never be done on public roads! ).

The engine revs higher than the average engine, higher than the 75bhp version.

Basically in a nutshell, I have never felt I needed more power when driving it. But you will get bored of it and you'll always crave the 1.8T. I've never been a derv type of person, never want to own one. I've drove them and my friend has a PD130 FR, it's faster off the start but not any faster after that.

I'll hedge bets the PD100 is faster off the line... and to its top end.
Let alone the PD130, 130 is a MUCH MUCH faster car!

And you can remap the PD100 to around 150bhp with much much more torque.
Even the petrolheads admit that given the choice between a 1.4 100PS and a Turbo'd derv 100BHP you'd choose the derv everytime.
Its cheaper on tax and insurance and is probably quicker at stock.

A quick remap will see you chasing stock cupra's

i think you may find put the derv in the hands of somebody who knows how to drive it and it will be away down the road leaving the 100ps 1.4 in its wake. The PD100 is a very torquey engine and in gear you will pull away from the petrol 1.4.

Cal mate i just can't see how you can say the PD130 is as fast as a 1.4 once in gear. It's MILES faster.

I've owned the 1.4 100 sport and i can tell you that its a great little town car, and very nippy out of the blocks, but take it anywhere near a motorway and its out of its depth as it needs that final gear or a different ratio to drop the revs when cruising.

i agree that the revs of the 1.4 are quite high when cruising on the motorway, but i dont think that it is out of its depth and i think it is quite refined (well compared to the 1.2 clio courtesy car i have just now!), mine pulls well especially after the software was updated to deal better with climbing hills and high speed pulling power, although i am not going to argue that the 1.9 tdi is going to be the better perfomer on the m-way!

Well I'll admit it looses its power on the motorway. But then again, it is only a 1.4. Its also quite bad on MPG compared to others.

My friend has only just got his PD130 so maybe doesn't know how to drive it yet. But I've drove with him a few times and we have been belting it down the country roads and it seemed odd. I wouldn't say it was much faster! There was no real gap and he drives it hard.

He'd pull away... and then I'd creep back up... then he'd pull away again. Its power comes in great big lumps. I was blown away at how fast it pulls away from stood still though. It really flings your head back into the seat.

But I can't see how people rave about the diesels. I guess I am really bias though! Yes I can see the benefits, but I am too naive about it all cos I really do hate the noise of them. I can happily live with less power and more costs to have a engine without that noise. Derv's really don't suite the way I drive and what I love about cars. I'm just a pure child inside, I want induction noise, dump valves and a hearty sounding exhaust. haha! I'd rather wait another year and get the 1.8T. But each to their own really.
In my eyes, I'd choose a 1.4 petrol over the 1.9TDI.

It's nice to have a person on the petrol side though ey? For once haha!
