Some of you might remember a while ago that I said I came across a 996 turbo out on the roads, and that it was really no quicker than my stage 2 plus k1, and I was met with comments such as no way and it would leave me behind etc etc. Now at the time I left it at that cause I wasn't even 100 sure that it was the turbo version although I was pretty certain that it was.
Anyway, friend of mine has a 996 turbo, and another member from this site has a stage 2 plus Cupra. So off I went as arranged for the cars to go down a air strip so we could do some propper comparisons.
The result? Well let's put it this way, I was right originally, the two cars are evenly matched pretty much, the turbo is a smidgen faster, but the Cupra can latch onto it's back bumper and stay there.
The turbo that I went against all those months ago wasn't standard either it had a uprated exhaust.
Time after time I'm learning just how hard it is to beat a stage 2 plus car. So now we know that the stage 2 plus car will stick with 996 turbos, BMW m5, merc cls 55 amg, and beat a host of others.
