I think this refers to when you don't have traction on. In first gear it red lines so it changes to second but it's only changed because the wheels are spinning faster than the car is moving so when the tyres do start to get traction, the engine speed is too high for the speed the tyres are turning.

I don't think I understand that but I know what I mean!

whys the top speed only 129 thought they were 140 standard?

Car mags no longer test cars to max speed, only print claimed factory figure. I think these are way out and this shows that. Real top speed for factory car no more than 130mph (GPS, not speedo) I think, at 141 I was flat out, maybe 1 or 2 mph more in it at max.

Was watching Fifth Gear on Demand Five last night and its crazy how fast our cars are (to 60) compared to some much more expensive cars.

The only number that really means anything is a Santa Pod 1/4 mile time on a ticket - because its a 3rd party FIA measurement. Mine can be viewed at Dragtimes.com - 13.4 sec @ 103mph. The 4.99 was recorded at GTi Inters with a 13.57 1/4mile, so best 0 to 60 is less than 4.99.
