I know im might be worrying over nothing.

i drove today with the radio off to have a nice listen to the engine (havent done this in 2 weeks of owning the car).

i wasnt paying attention before driving it hard but when stuck in traffic i noticed this sound (Tappetty)

i have tried to capture it on Phone not sure what the quality has come out like. only does it on Idle rev it a little and it goes away.

I wish some of you lived local to me so i can compare. :(

really thank god lol. i was thinking something was catching or a piston ring was playing up.

Admittedly i have no reason to suspect or know what that would sound like lol. just confused that pressing the throttle made it go away

thanks

again

I have read a few threads on here about the 2.0 petrol FR and Cupra sounding a bit tappy. it's nothing to worry about. Smee I take it you know about the fuel pump cam follower that can cause problems and needs checking?

My Cupra sounds a bit like that at idle (almost like a diesel when it's cold)

Nath - Is this something I need to worry about in a 2010 Cupra? It's only done 3400 miles at the moment but I'll be keeping it for a while.

If it's checked it's nothing to worry about, if it's left to get worn it can cause problems. best to make sure it's checked properly every service or it can cause big bills.

Smee, I did my cam follower on my FR TFSI at the weekend, took about 45 mins for my first time. It really is simple and theres a great guide under the Stickied Topic.
I am not a trained mechanic at all, but with the guides shown on the web I have replaced/cleaned EGR valves, serviced cars and other bits.

My car has got 86K on it and have no idea if it was replaced before, but the damage on the follower wasnt as bad as I was expecting. I will post a picture in the thread later on.

I was just coming on here to ask does it make a difference if you remove this part its a charcol filter im sure used for excess fuel to go back into the tank or engine saving a slight amount on fuel

ok day 2. driven very sensibly this morning. No warning lights. temp say normal. pull in to work car park and start to hear the noise. its quite loud really.

captured from Cabin side now.

Notes

car driven 30 miles normal speed.
aircon unit is OFF

you will see me switch it on during the video and the noise subsides and then off again and the noise is clearly there again.

some one check there and let me know if this is normal or should i start to worry
