Hi all, I am new to the site and am currently looking at ordering a Leon FR TDI.....

I think I have chosen the options all but the colour I'm really stuck on that, other than the fact I don't want red.

I would welcome your ideas and for the spec side of things too, like what do you wish you had on yours or which colour etc etc.

I've not had much experience with Seat, although the last time I drove one was a 03 Ibiza TDI sport (130) and that was on its roof... oooopppps.

Since then I've mainly had BMWs and VW's so know a fair bit but maybe not enough specific to this model.

Any advice would be great

Cheers

5miffy, are we talking a new FR here?

In terms of colours you will find all sorts of opinions on here as i think every colour is on here. I currently have black, but i hate the fact that its annoying to clean and that stone chips are so visible. I was thinking about white, at least that way maybe the scratches and stone chips wouldnt be too bad, but two of my mates have white and i dont want to look sad. Before i had silver, now i know its boring but it took a lot less washing and the scratches and stuff didnt show up half as much. Its up to you, there's a few speed blues on here that i think look really nice tho.

As im on my 2nd leon i went all out with the options and there isnt a box left unticked, but lets be honest, do i really use my heated seats, no, and did i really need to pay extra for Alacantara material, no. I do like the Xenons and the whole multimedia 2.1 system.

The optional 18's look nice and suit the car, but they will increase road noise and hurt your back more than the forgiving 17" so it depends what your more inclined to have, looks or comfort.

Winter pack? again, do i really use it? And i never use a sunroof either. Just get the tech pack in my mind and have a think over the wheels.

Not made the decision on the colour yet but at the moment it is just "solid" paint, but I may pay extra for the Metallic but I'm still undecided.

I think the dogo is mean't to be logo? just the standard cloth, which I like more than some of the others anyway.

I think it has nav too, what is it like? also the bluetooth any good, much background noise?

The wheels were worth the upgrade too....

if you order the tech pack it will have sat-nav, its ok but i had a decent tomtom before and its not really a scratch on it, i mean it find the satalites alot quicker, literally straight away, where as my tomtom used to take a while, but you cant put a full postcode in. The bluetooth is ok and the phone options on the multimedia system is good, but sometimes there can be a bit of background noise and sometimes when i press ring i get a horrible feedback coming through the speakers before it starts to ring, could just be my phone etc but im not the only one on here.

I had the normal seats in my old one and there really good, didnt wear out or anything, i just wanted something different this time.

Cool, the seats are called "dogo" if you go onto the configurator on the Seat site... "

Sport Seats, 'Dogo' Cloth, Black interior / Black dashboardNo Cost"

I prefer the screen on the stereo with the nav, the standard one looks nasty.

I've looked at loads on the internet all differant colours, still can't seem to decide, I like the white, I think I need to see some in the flesh then I will decide.

yeah they do look dated without the media system, have you seen the new kenwood system their selling, its looks nicer and you can use full post-code but i think its like £900!

Im sure if you ask on here ppl will be able to show you many different potential colours of their cars.

I read your Spec (quoted below) and thought WOW - Thats going to be one massively Spec'ed Up car.
Then looking at each Point and realising youve ACTUALLY quoted 99% of a standard Car anyway! :D

Why not add to that list...

An engine
Steering Wheel
Suspension x 4
2 Wing Mirrors (one each side!)
Rear View Mirror
4 Tyres.
5th Tyre (spare)
2 Front Seats
1 Rear Seat - Modular
An indicator Stalk
Light Controls
Headlights
Indicators
....
....
??

:snack: :p

Yes I presume so - just couldnt believe the length of the list, until my eyes were able to focus and read through each one, then it was like..... It's missing an Engine!! :D

Wonder if the NEW FL Leons have a selection of new pallette colours to choose from ?

Dunno what everyone's gripe is with the sat-nav!!

Ive had the car a month now and used the nav on many occasions....ok, so you cant search full UK postcode...but how often do you go somewhere where you don't know the road??

The media system is great!

Your spec sounds similar to mine...ive got leather though - Which i highly recommend!!!, 18" ibera's are lovely...personally dont find them too noisy or uncomfortable....I've got tech pack, convenience pack...and on colour, i went for Track Grey and i absolutely love it!!

I've now seen a Candy White FR in Pompey this morning, so all being well that is what we'll choose, thanks for your advice etc.

Hopefully I'll be in action soon......

If you are ordering brand new don't forget the spec has changed from the one above to MY12 now.

You can have the FR with a 1.4Tsi or 2 litre TDi 140 or FR + with 2 litre TSi 211 of 2 litre TDi 170 engine which adds Media system, Xenons and 18" Ibera wheels.

Online configurator and website info is still 2011MY

They are but compare a second hand say7-8month old leon and focus and spec for spec the leon is still way ahead. The new st aint going to be cheap either so the price bracket compared to a current nerly new leon is very different.

im sorry mate dont agree the new shape focus which has just been released is light years ahead with standard equipment , even if you compare it to a brand new or nearly new leon.
saftey features have also moved on leaps and bounds the leon is old in the tooth now , better cars out there now.

there was a time the leon was the car to have for the money but things have moved on.
