Hi, i recently bought a 07 Leon 140 tdi sport and was wondering what kind of reliable power would I expect from a remap and Decat? I did a search but found loads about FR 170 tdi's but not much about 140's

For some reason my Leon is badged as an FR on the back? Its got a factory fit btcc/k1 body kit, so comes with the 18 inch wheels and is completely standard. Did they do a 140FR? And is the many differences in the engines between the 140 and 170?

Any help would be great

lol no they did not do a 140bhp FR until very recently with the new orders, the 170's are now called FR+ just another marketing scheme of SEAT to get rid of stock imo. Did the 140's come with a DPF? i dont really know about an 07 one, i know the newer ones do, you need to find that out first, but without taking it off or whether its not there at all, a stage 1 map should give 185bhp about.

The 140pds have no dpf. Only the newest 140cr fr's will have dpf's, therefore an 07 plate pre-fl 140 sport will not. The old pd lumps didnt have the dpf's on which is handy (less to go wrong). Sounds like the previous owner had a case of badging up the car wrong! There was a recent thread on this, and was quite funny. Your cars exterior has simply been specced up from stock.

A good remap will see some lovely gains to beyond fr spec, as graham says 185bhp.

Ah that's awesome, next question lol anyone know anywhere down south berkshire area that's good for remaps? And out of interest what does stage 2 entail?

I didn't think they made an FR 140 but I was sold it as a sport but was curious of some had just suck a badge on the back.

Thanks
Ash

highlights from thread

The way to go with the 170 fr is:

DPF removal
Panel filter or better flowing air filter
Larger bore exhaust system
Hybrid turbo
Custom remap
Bigger injector nozzels depending on what sort of power your after and money you wanna spend.

Same for the 140 really apart from it has no DPF to start with, both are fitted with a full FMIC, large intake piping and similiar exhaust systems.

Weve had a look at stage 3 for the CR and i cant find anywhere that does a hybrid or bigger injectors, only ever found one place that advertised a hybrid for the PD and it didnt look very reliable tbh.

lol yeah wait till Nath see you :) i'll find the link for him its a good laugh

Turbo Dynamics do a Stage 1 and Stage 2 for the PD170 But nobody has bothered with it

Ha ha lol. That's quite funny.

basically your saying stage 3 is not really achievable and if it is it's very expensive....

So really I'm looking at a remap, better air intake and exhaust before things start getting silly money...

Thanks

I also have the 140, but its DSG - If i were to have it mapped, would I need to have the gearbox reprogrammed at all? Also, presumeably with the dsg I'd need to have a map with a very smooth power delivery so as not to put too much strain on the box...?

there is software for the DSG but it only changes the way it reacts and isnt necessary for a remap, i doubt that there is much difference between the 140 DSG and the FR DSG so i wouldnt worry about putting too much strain on the box as remapped FR's would be putting out higher figures anyway
