I was looking at that the other day. Somebody has registered all the Bocanegra's as Cupra's haven't they?

Cheapest quote i have found putting in a Boc Reg but it comes up saying Cupra is about £900 with Admiral. But if i change it to Boc it goes to £1700 :/

I have found some places where the Cupras and Bocs are exactly the same insurance, which is about £1200-£1300. Thats the cheapest i can get if i put Boc in as well.

I also found that all the big players in the insurance game all share some vehicle database. Some smaller ones also the quote was identical for the cupra and the boc. The dilemma is do u play the dafty and use the reg number or do you come clean and pay more? LOL

I suppose if they are being arsey they could try and not pay out for an accident because they can say your insuring it as the wrong car, even though its registered on the systems as a Cupra.

I'm sure i read here a while ago about somebody getting pulled by the Police and they had the same problem, the police where saying why is our system saying its a Cupra when it says Bocanegra on the back.

If that happens all you do is pop the bonnet and show them the engine cover that says cupra hahahahahahahhahaha

I called my insurance (Admiral) and explained that the Boc was £150 more than the cupra that my reg identified the vehicle as, and she went away to discuss this with a supervisor. Came back and told me that it was the same vehicle and i was not to worry about it. I said ok but add a note to that effect on my policy notes just to be on the safe side and she did.

Problem is that i have a multicar policy with them, wife's quashqi and my sons clio and the total for all 3 at the renewal now is £2239 one off payment! I have shopped around and got this now with 3 individual policies to £1879 with Tesco and the quote shows my car as a Boc and my sons with the proper 100 bhp tce engine instead of the 75bhp his reg brings up....

TBH its a complete ball ache only eased by 2 bottles of red!

People keep saying that they have the Cupras registered as the wrong insurance group as well. Is that really the case? I'm sure they would of noticed by now..

Think it only affects Boc's in this respect, but its easy to tweak the quote online to get an idea of the difference. Have heard of Cupra's cheaper to insure than FR's...

Well I'm 23 and i'll have 3 NCB and 3 years driving in Jan. Test quotes for that time are:

Cupra with Admiral £900. Although changing to a Boc with Admiral jumps up to £1700! :/
Cheapest FR quote was about £1100 - Can't remember who with.
Boc £1100-£1200 with Sainsburys.

I'm 21, 2 years NCB and >3 years driving. My insurance for my Boc from Admiral was £1400 - and that was the cheapest quote I got.

Though 3 months before it was delivered I was getting quotes and at that time I was getting ones for £800-900.

Typical that when you take delivery it increases....

Still, being a young driver I'm used to getting stung by the random number generator of insurance companies :)

I have a 59 plate Boc. Im 20, with 1 years no claims (would have three but was a named driver and they didnt let me use them as i changed company :( ), 3 years driving experience.. Not sure what the annual premium is cos I just swapped the cars over on the policy. I used to have a 1.4tdi Polo (2007) and that was £900 for the year.. Five months in the the policy i got my Boc so called up to put the Boc on and take the Polo off and they actually REFUNDED me £27, not a lot i know but still a refund.. Oh and im with Elephant btw.

Back in January Admiral actually say'd I'd be getting a refund if I was swapping my (then) Astra H 1.7 CDTI for the Boc! I forget how much it was they were refunding now but I had to regrettably inform them I had to wait a painstaking while for the car :(

Then the delivery coincided with my renewal date (Handy?) except now my quotes seemed to have exploded!

I think there is something funny going on here... :D

Elephant quotes me £558 for a boc and £332 for the Cupra...:shrug:
