Just been to test drive a dakota red cupra, wasn't too sure about the colour in pictures, but in person it looks awesome!

Seeing my current car ( Citroen C2 VTR 1.6) is the most powerful car I have driven at 110BHP and some measly 0-60 of about 10-11 seconds, the cupra was a big step up :D

I was very surprised at the quietness and refinement in the cabin though, it makes it feel like you are going alot slower than you actually are! :D

I have got them to bring over an 11 plate FR from a dealer in the same group to test, its £2000 cheaper than the Cupra!!

Honestly if they where around the same price it would be the Cupra, but the difference in payments is about £60-£70 a month, and i need it as cheap as possible!! :D

My insurance renewal is January and the Cupra is about £150 cheaper than the FR.

Another problem I now have is that they are offering me £800 less for my car as part-ex than they did a few months ago. They are now offering me £1200 for my C2, i did a we buy any car quote and they are even quoting more. :S

I have been reading all the reviews i can find on the FR and Cupra, and the general opinion I have found is that the FR is a better drive than the Cupra, most reviews say it has not as harsh suspension ( although I didn't find the Cupra'as suspension bad at all) and also that the torque is ranged better across the gears in an FR. I know this probably won't be a general opinion on here though! xD

To be honest mate, the garage are the ones wanting the sale, push them for the best price on your P/X, make them work for the sale!

Suspension is a little firmer. Dont know where you have read that about the torque. Are you sure you weren't reading about the diesel.

Also the cupra is rated wrong on the MIDM so when its discovered and the insurance sky rockets to make their money back it'll be cheaper to insure the FR. I'd get that save the 2k and get a nice remap for the same power as a cupra with a little more stealth.

The story behind them nearly cutting the part-ex valuation in half is that they took the same car as a part-ex not long ago, they sold it on and it blew up on the guy as he drove off... I think they where basically saying we don't want it lol.

I can't find the articles where i read it now but it was definitely comparing the 2 TSI engines, also in the back of Evo where it has ratings for the cars and a small comment on them, and they advise towards the FR as well. :S

Also I don't understand why they refer to theFR as a "warm hatch", when it has better figures than alot of other cars (Abarth 500/Punto) which they refer to as hot hatches!!

I think that's them saying they will try and give you as low as possible mate, try to get some money off the new car or more for PX as they are having you on with a story.

Agree with Mardon about the torque, not sure how the FR would have more (could be wrong though).

Yea well they offered me £2000 for it about 2-3 months ago :( They definitely ain't having it for that anyway.

It didnt say the FR has more torque, because the Cupra does. :p It just said it torque spread through the gears is better.

They should be giving me a call sometime this week when the FR is there, so I'll give that a go and see what I think, if they give me what i want i could buy it there and then!

I'm not sure how far What Car free valuations go but they are saying a 10 plate Cupra is worth £12,800 at a dealer, and the FR £12050. The FR is very close but the Cupra is £1000's off :S

Also it says part-ex for my car should be over £3000 lol!

Ahhh ok apologies I misread.

Well the FR is a good car and with a remap you'll see around 200bhp which is more than enough really. The way things are at the mo the FR's will be seen as the special edition rather than the Cupra or Boc :p

Cupra if you can get it. Bumpers alone will make you wish you had one  -- I felt cheated when I had an FR over what I wanted.

If it is hobins they are quite pricey compared to other dealers. But when I wouldnt budge they ended up dropping 1000off the price and offered me more on the p/x. So that cupra should be on the book price after that.

If the Cupra wasn't £2,000 more i would take it any day, its like £60-£70 difference in the monthly payments, which is quite alot! xD

What actual price did you get yours down to then Adam? The one i tested was £13,995 but it was dakota red which is an extra £400 paint job. They do have a white one at Bury for £13,750 though.

I do like the looks of the FR, just that the back bumper is a bit naff. I am scared of getting the feeling of "i should of just got the better one" though lol :S But £170 a month for the FR is quite a difference compared to the £220 for the Cupra!

Is this Preston seat your dealing with Tonezz?
When I wanted to trade my 1.4 Ibiza in for a fr I thought they were having a laugh, £329 month over a 5 years for a ex demo fr which was up for £12,800ish. Would of ended up pay over £19k over the 5 years. They did offer me more for my car than they should of apperently.

Gonna go back soon and try again, I need a cupra or boc in my life ha

I do like the fr's still but I know I'd wish I'd gone full fat and got the cupra after a while!

Yes it is mate, I'm looking at PCP so the FR would only be £170, which is pretty good.

The Cupra's seem to be all priced quite similar but the FR's they just got in at Manchester seem quite cheap. £11,990 for a Jan 11 plate with a £400 option paint, with 4k miles on the clock. Thats £16,665 new!

^^ Go for that ^^ Very good price!! Get the bumpers later if you really want :D

The FR front bumper is cool, just that the back looks a bit naff. Have to get the cupra back bumper and exhaust system though, because on the FR its to the left!! :D

Tonezz have you been out in a fr from Preston?
If so what's spec/mileage on it?

I don't mind either fr bumpers, was gonna put them on my current Ibiza at start of this but saved the money for when it's time for a new car.
