Same engine but heavier.

Depends what stage of tune tbh,

Stage 1 is only about 200-205hp, stage 2 is 210-220Hp stage 3 is around 240hp. The tuning market is still very new.

Thing is wwith this engine is its power delivery. Peak figures aren't everything its about the delivery lack of lag and seemless change from the dsg which means theres no loss of boost on gear change etc.

Loads of us have been to 1/4 mile days and happilly beaten 280hp GTIs, stage 3 Astra VXRs, focus RSs etc so irrelevant of figures we know the performance of these cars. Plus to get on our leader board it has to be a recognized strip with proof of the time.

If your interested iin what these cars can do with just 220Hp against 380Hp GtI, 300hp mazda 3mps, 290hp focus st and std focus RS then have a rread of this. ttp://goapr.com.au/media/mm-june2011.pdf

Also consider evo's test of the std polo against the vxr, cooper s jcw, citreon DSR.
got some performance figures for you here from EVO

not bad considering the others are more powerful by 11-30hp!! *takes the mini up until 80mph before its extra 30hp allows it to beat the Polo. *they should really have compared it to the normal Coop S though and not the Cooper S JCW

Dead last for the vxr is it lol

Lmao ;D but still no one wants to prove it, it's ok in theory :p

But Vag have always rather swapped there engines, it's such a shame imagine a stroker kit and big charger and turbo will be 500bhp easy, I know over 400 the rest are just for pub talk but still a shame :L

Those times are wrong both our cars have faster 0-60 I have seen a ibiza do 147 top speed and the fasted Corsa I know of was 155 on a strip and ran out of room :L anyone up for a rolling road in Derbyshire notts area? I would love to see some of these 250 twin charged I bet there is no lag! (very jellous) :)

Are they wrong, they were all tested ie same conditions with same driver on the same day with the same equipment........ and in fairness i believe it was slightly damp, but eitherway, the corsa was still last out of the cars=slower than the rest-FACT!!

Im just outside nottingham, and use a company in mansfield, You wont get big figures there i assure you. Figures are identical pretty much to the ones you get on a dynodynamics which is famous for being a heart breaker.

No one in the UK with a 250hp 1.4TSI yet, they are all in europe or elsewhere. Currently in UK there is only stage 2 cars which are circa 213Hp-220Hp. Some guys think they have loads more, but in reality its just a generous dyno reading.

What company in Mansfield you use?

Also find it funny how any one with a vxr thinks they are quicker then anything else.

I was in a cupra with my mate against a vxr both standard. 2 in the cupra 1 in the vxr and can you guess who.won?

I do struggle to understand how vauxhall came up with there 0-60 time, I think its made up, 6.8 just sounded good, I mean how can a car which lacks dsg, is heavier, with less torque, be 4 10th's faster? I mean yeah it has an extra 12hp, but in my opinion on a 0-60 run dsg makes up a good 25-35bhp,

I do like the vxr, i think they look good, perhaps slightly chavy, but still. trying not to be to bias ;)

Don't take my word for it, there are plenty of youtube video's,

i had a corsa VXR i loved it was nippy and loved to rev but turbo lag was noticeable and at high speeds it wasn't the smoothest car especially when windy ... due to issues with my left knee i needed a auto so i got my cupra to me it certainly feels faster but as people have said it could be the dsg ... I'm from the derby area :)

well i have a cupra with turbo back exhaust system, forge induction kit and re-map by A.M.D Essex and it has 234.8 bhp.

Lmao remember that mapped vrs I mentioned just had a talk with him on way home from college he is currently 217bhp and I smashed him, and why dont I meet you two in mansfield? Be interesting to see if the Ibiza is faster than the vrs :)

Exactly AMD essex with its famed rolling road:lol: you get free Hp in doggy bags every visit. I keep telling everyone. The cheapest mod for £ per bhp is a run on amds rollers:D

At the OP, is this guy on briskoda with the fabia then and who is he mapped by, i reckon he might be exagerating abit lol. Also if he is accurate with his figures, then well done for beating a car with 35hp+ less than you lol. Can't say im up for a meet tbh, im 27 not 17 so am not big into racing around on the roads. I do track days instead where driving counts for morethan hp Willy waiving

@adambolus. Have a look at vagoc.co.uk in the 1.4TSI tuning section for my mods etc.

Well says it all can talk the talk all that, am 19 so don't mind driving round and you might want to change your posts because amd can prosecute you :L and before you argue check before you respond,

Finally :) Some decent information how much have yOu spent? :)

I have spent £140 pound and that's it.

Remap and decatted standard down pipe gave me this

Full exhaust sytem, intake and intercooler will give me around 225hp i reckon. Add wmi and maybe it'll be slightly more.

Power delivery and tractability is what matters to me. My dsg map should be sorted in about a week. Launch control and R888s and im sure I've got a sub 5 sec 0-60. Im only 0.6 on a damp track with std 205 wide continental 2 tyres which are crap

Im not slating amds work as thats very good. Im just saying their rollers give very high figures compared to others. I know as ive used aand many times. And have always made way more than I should have by 20hp+ at least

depends what you mean by smashed him.

1/4 mile:

Lets say he just has a re-map for arguments sake, i would still put money on him beating you in a 1/4 mile, seeing as many people inc myself have beaten cars up to 310bhp.

Thats down to the weight, dsg(4 changes at 0.1s as opposed to 0.5s =1.6 seconds made up already) AND the supercharger gives no lag so the engine is constantly on boost.

Also the power curve is very smooth and torque remains roughly the same throughout the entire rev range, that cannot be the case for the vxr until the turbo kicks in, I'd like to see your dyno plot to compare.

motorway:

If you were both doing motorway speeds before racing then decided to go for it you will most likely be in 3rd and 4th.....see where I'm going with this; only one gear change so not loosing much time but your constantly in your turbo rev range. The fact then that the 1.4tsi has a supercharger is irrelevent and so is dsg. You have a bigger turbo, more capacity, more bhp and that will help you fight wind resistance much better than a lower hp car with less capacity. So if it was this kind of race(say 70mph-120mph) i believe you,
a drag race would be close but I would go for the cupra.

We shall have to meet up at a organised track day if your going to any next year, by then I will be stage 2+ (if my engine dosent pile in)

DSG MAP?! Is that your own tuner? Also is it going to be made available to us public? .....One more, can it be applied to an ecu that has a remap prior aka revo because it should only change the code relating to the dsg. Was on vag oc earlyer and didnt see anything about it on there

cool beans! Awaiting my intercooler atm and then after a trouble free winter, fingers crossed(when seat decide enough is enough and give me a new engine in a couple of weeks) will be getting the supersprint downpipe(cat is further down than the milltek I believe) and we will have to do some "tests"
