as bill says, it's the heat that messes them up, rather than the absolute tensile strength on its own.
OE K03 manifold to turbo bolts are about £5 each! that should indicate what they are made of..

Wee update on this.

Swapped out the crap imported cast manifold and reinstalled the OEM one, along with new gaskets, turbo-mani bolts, nordlocks, and new mani-head nuts. Installation went a breeze and got rid of the fumes in the engine bay.

However....

There was now noise from the DP area, had it in to the local exhaust place for a swatch on their ramps, sodding weld at the flexi joint has gone on the turbo side. [:@]

Dunno if I'll be able to patch it or get it welded, wouldn't mind but it'll be the thick end of £500 for a new 3" Milltek DP with 200 cell cat!

feck me.....

Hope so Damien, can't really afford dropping that much cash, especially this time of year! Been having a look for stainless welders up this way today, there's a fair few it would seem.

Car is coming off the road within the next few weeks so I'll drop the downpipe then and see what the story is. Milltek have already said to return it to them and they'll have a look at it, so tempted by that :)
