Hi bought my leon cupra last friday, came with FSSH one 70yr old older since two months old (was a seat demo) done 71k and in silver. Its a 03 model so bigger bumpers.

Well after lots of searching I didn't realise there was a difference in engines as well as turbos for Cupra to Cupra R. Just thought it was bigger exhaust, better map and intercooler...duh!

So after seeing the ko3s max out at 240bhp, which the R can hit with a remap, it just seems a waste of money when I could buy better suspension and interior/exterior standard.

So far its a mixed bag coming from high end NA Vtec prelude with 213bhp to low end 180bhp its slighty manhood shrinking.

But the torque is good, just tails off to much.

Whats going on with LCR prices seem to vary massively. My friend bought his LCR 04 in black for 3.5k 2yrs ago with 90k miles and sold it for the same 6months later, now there 4k plus!!?

I thought the exact same thing,i came from a bmw 328 with 220bhp, and i thought the standard cupra was very slow, i fitted the induction kit from my bmw, and got it remapped, its like a different car,i have since added a forge splitr and straight through middle section to make it sound a bit louder.

Estimated at 210bhp, it wont never be as quick as a cupra r, with the same money chucked at both it is better to have a cupra r like you said, it wont take much to get the cupra to a satisfying spec

Don't think the 180 is a slow car with a few mods, it'll tramp on a stock 225 Lcr, forget the pub talk bhp. Look into maintained torque , or slap an gt28/IHI turbo on it and you'll see 320bhp +, a car is what you make it.

I agree. The lcr starts off better equipped don't get me wrong but both will require the same level if modification to get past 300bhp both need rods and a bigger turbo besides the obvious upgrades. But a lc is cheaper to max out than a lcr by a fair amount. But granted the lcr will end up with around 50bhp more than the lc but this I's mainly down to the turbo. The way I see it I's I'll rather surprise ppl I'n a cupra being fast rather than being known to be fast I'n a cupra r. At the end of the day both engines can easily break the 600bhp Mark just the lcr has a head start.

But doesn't the lcr have better suspension and arb's as standard, I did trackdays in my lude and wanted to carry on, but can't afford a sole track car as well as a daily, so wanted to combine as I previously did.

As said its better equipped as standard. Breaks are brembos which other then bigger turbo is the best upgrade. Suspension etc. Most ppl use coilovers or fit arb if they are that serious about performance and handling. I wanted a lcr at first but now I'm doing up my lc im glad I don't have a lcr because I enjoy building it up and it does not shout out being a fast car. Don't get me wrong I'd love a lcr but I love my lc more because it can be made as good as any lcr out their.

The LC is purely the predecessor to the Lcr, & one of the quickest at the time it was released, i wouldn't say Its a massive jump either, they shaved .6 of a second of it's 0-60 and .4 off 1/4 mile. Theyre neither track toys as standard, they both need fettling, suspension etc ,

They both weigh a Few too many lb's & have a few too many doors , if
You want a true track toy, go buy a dc2 they're the same price 3-6k, but eitherway its better to be an underdog :)

I might be wrong but has it got an immobiliser chip in it which only corolates to the cars keys

As much as I love my LCR I loved the cupra to and suprisingly in many occasions the cupra outgained on most runs against LCRs although after seeing some of the LCR's on here maybe i shouldn't say that to loud  enjoy the better mpg and great handling but then again if you really are set on an LCR go for it but all in all welcome to SCN happy modding!!!!!

Well im happy for now, see what I remap does. Seen people saying about not getting a cheap map are they that much different?

Also tooj my engine plastic cover and found the Y breather hose had split badly, do I really need silicone or not much difference?

Going to order hopefully a Forge 007p DV and sai blanking plate as my secondary air pump has seized.

Silicone is better as you wont have to worry about the hoses you replace perishing again plus with re-maps under higher boost they will handle it better, much more than standard ones.Re-map choice is yours there are several places at several different prices stick with what seatcupra.net provide as they are all respectable companies who will be able to map to your needs.:D
