Parrot kit fitted today and now my car is coming up with "Airbag Fault" on the MFD, as well as the Airbag light on the cluster  :wtf:

Anyone any ideas why this could be?

My initial thought was that the fuse socket it was in on the fuse board was somehow taking too much power and throwing a fault... so I took the fuse out, and it still does it...
Next step I took the Parrot's 'BlueBox' (brain) out and tried again... and it still does it...

Help! (Please and thanks) :(

VAGCOM it to see which airbag it is and then see what solutions can be found

I don't have VAGCOM :(.

I'll run it to a garage to check out what the fault code is on a diagnostic before I take it to a dealer... If they switch the fault off, it'll come straight back on again if there's still a fault, right?

Thats correct, if there is a fault it will just stay on and cannot be removed till sorted but its got to be something with an easy fix if just came on randomly

I can only think it's interference from the wiring loom?...
Tomorrow I'll move the loom to the drivers side and see if it sorts it. Though I get the feeling that the fault won't just go... that it needs to be reset.

I'm not having much luck with my dream car at the mo' :(

Yh it will not go now until you reset it with VAGCOM, best way to try is put everything back to normal and the clear it and see if it stays off.

But first check which airbag its messing up and then put it back so then you know.

Good luck with it mate :)

Thanks buddy. I'll run the wiring loom down the drivers side of the centre console instead of the passenger side, I think it's the passenger side AB that's unhappy.
I'll do that tomorrow, then Monday I'll take her in.
Standby for update :)

Had no problems with my parrot! The box was located behind the aic con control unit, so all wiring behind that too. Microphone was ran down the passenger side and up across to the centre lights

Behind as in behind the controls but underneath the vents in that space? Mine's to the left of that, between the glove box and the head unit. Mic runs under the steering column then up the pillar and is just sat on top of that... :)

Do you have an airbag switch in the glovebox?
If so is it plugged back in?
Or did you try the parrot with the glovebox still out and the switch disconnected?

I never took the glovebox out 'cause I couldn't work out how to get the bugger out
Any ideas?

It won't be interference more that you've either pulled a wire by accident causing a high resistance or if you have a switch in your glovebox it's became unplugged.
Glovebox is easy to remove
Open the glovebox there's 2 screws at the top and inside the glovebox there's another 2 screws then close the glovebox and down where your feet would be there's another 2 screws pointing upwards.
You'd be better to remove it to make sure your parrots not pulling on anything.
Did you use a proper wiring harness or did you need to get a power supply from somewhere?

Used a proper wiring harness (SOT-976FB) and fed the ignition cable to an empty slot on the fuse board.

I took out 8 screws altogether to get the glovebox out but it wouldn't budge?...

Any guide you can give me I'll try first thing in the morning. Thanks mate! really appreciate it!

Is there an airbag light on any of the dash panels you removed? If you unplugged it it will have caused this and just needs reset

You may have cracked it!... I unplugged the panel with the hazard light button on, it also houses the pass airbag off light...?

That's the reason why then mate get it reset and it should sort it :)

Had to laugh at myself this morning... the cable you asked if I'd unplugged... I never plugged it back in  what a total d1ck!
All working fine now, only thing my Parrot won't do is PAUSE my iPod... but it will mute it. I can live with that!
I'll get the fault cleared tomorrow.

Muchas Gracias!

A simple software update for the parrot may fix that. Get a usb stick and go on the parrot website, download the file to the usb and stick the usb in the car, to the parrots usb port, then click update from the parrot menu :)

The parrot doesn't have a USB port. Should it? :|
