I'm looking at several options and one of which is a Cupra which has leather seats but it's the only one I've seen with them so this has got me questioning whether it was an official option or just very expensive so few specced it? Can anyone advise?

Also while I'm here was the standard Cupra ever available with Recaros or was that only the R model?

And another one I'm afraid, if I were to get a remap, I'd be looking at around a 30-40HP increase? Knocking on the door of the R's power output? is it true that only a fool dives under the bonnet first and would i be best to upgrade the brakes first? Is the R's larger Brembo setup mainly for show and the standard Cupra's stoppers are perfectly fine?

Thanks very much :)

Leather and recaros where optional on cupra my fr (mk1) has same size discs on front as lcr but lcr has 4pot brembos and vented discs on rear there are quite a few other parts that are uprated on the lcr compared to cupra so they are not quite the same beast but i am happy with my fr 180 :)

00-02 ish full leather was an option including memory seats, auto dimming mirror, reversing mirrors and rain sensitive wipers. not many of these about.

facelift bumper was added around 02 and the leather loaded option discontinued.

no idea which have recaros as mines full leather ;)

you ideally want an 01+ AUQ engine code as these map better and also have very good 312mm calipers which are fine with good pads in them.

cupra needs a rear ARB otherwise its very understeery, all in all a good car for the money. :)

LCR has 323mm front discs. How have you managed to fit these without Brembos? I think you're getting confused with the 312mm ones from the S3.

What year is yours Pat? And are your seats the memory ones?

Mine is a 2001/51 plate, and had the electric leather and folding mirrors as standard - it doesn't have the memory function though, nor the auto dimming or auto wipers.

I think the fully specced ones were from the crossover time going from a Sport to a Cupra. :)

If you want the memory seats look out for the red memory button on the side of the driver's seat in any adverts etc, these cars are more likely to have the auto gubbins as Pat said above.

Registered Jan 01, so i think its one of the first badged cupras which as you say had the more tsport spec interior. Jabba reckoned it could have been one of the press cars but ive not seen it on any literature.

Didnt realise they had leather/auto seats without the memory option on some cars. :)

The same thing happened with Toledo's, there is a 'vague' time between 01 and 02 where some got leather with memory and some without. I think they were still electric though, just didn't have the set of buttons on the side.

AUQ engine as well in yours?

Sounds like you've got the best of both worlds tbh, all the spec and the AUQ lump.

Yep afraid they did the "poverty spec" electric leather seats lol :D Mine was September 01 so is on the V5 as a Cupra, seen the earlier ones as 1.8T Sports though.

Mine didn't came with a Cupra badge though, just got the 20VT :)

Do you have the leather doorcards as well? If so it sounds like it was there from new :)

Keeping the leather well fed and clean is paramount to having it look good for years. My rear seats look like they've never been sat in lol :D

yep... fell on my feet with this car. AUQ

although it was badged right, its a 20vt sport on the V5.

Honestly dont know how you cope without the memory option??? Do you just measure the seat position and write it down in case you forget?
(ive used mine once since 2005 :D, and that was only to see what it did)

That'll explain all the toys then :)

It's easy - no one else gets to drive my car lol :D

Yeah it has leather door cards , unfortunately when I bought the car one was missing (front left) I haven't had it sorted yet , been doing more the mechanical side . Slightly bemused by the fact that I have a large AMP fuse on my seats rather than a normal one though. Would this be a hazard do you think ?
