Hi guys n gal(s) found myself at a reputable exhaust place and i though id have a play

These tailpipes are just put on over the top of mine. Not attached.

So anyway, after talking to the main man, found myself getting carried away . The way he described the process , replacing the backbox and starting the outlet pipes fresh so the bigger tailpipe would sit better, he said for around the same price, i could have double exit (like supercopa) or central exit (cupra). BUZZING.

I told him it was a turbo, and then he said you could just get rid of the backbox because turbos are quieter (somthing to do with the gasses) and it wouldnt be much louder, also cheaper. But we could try it first.

Would removing the backbox and putting a straight through pipe improve performance at all? Is it advisable noise wise?

So the prices i was given,
80-100 for just tailpipes fitting (not changing the exhaust)
200-220 for backbox and pipes done the professional way
??? For backbox removal and straight through pipes

Or do i find a cupra pre fl exhaust from a scrapyard??? Oval tip

I ask for help because i dont wanna waste money on somthing id have to change again if i went down the performance mod route (remap, exhaust,CAI)

WHAT WOULD YOU DO?!

I WANT TAILPIPES LIKE THAT ON MY CAR INSTEAD OF MY CHEAP £10 EXHAUST TIP FROM HALFRAUDS!!!!!!

EDIT: It's amazing how alike our cars are now! :O

EDIT 2: What was this place? I may be interested ;)

Jay,

If you go to David Cook motors in chadderton, they will replace the exhaust from the back box and fit an FR back box with thet twin chrome exit pipes for £150.

The FR rear box is a larger diameter too so could sound a bit meatier!!

Im not sure fr tailpipes have the exact same finish point in the rear bumper (FR bumper/sport bumper) mite be worth a check!

Deffo worth a check mate, i got talking to the parts guy there when i took mine in for its service in July,

he asked me if i was interested in a few upgrade bits, as funilly enough i asked about the chome exhaust trim for mine, after i bought a full set of mudflaps.

He said well, the exhaust trim id £75, but for £150, we can replace the back box with the larger bore FR back box.

They can also supply, paint & fit the FR bumpers for reasonable money as well.

£150 for the FR back box, with crome trim as standard on it or 200 -220 from your exhaust man

if it looks ok, may as well get the FR back box.
