Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone has removed the centre silencer out of their Leon cupra,

I am saving up for an exhaust but until then i can get someone to remove the centre silencer for 50 quid as I think the car is too quiet :p

I have already de-catted the car, any opinions or hands on knowledge would be helpful, or even a cheeky video!

Cheers
James

I have heard a cupra without the centre silencer at a car meet about a year ago, it sounded how they should have left the factory tbh. It was a bit deeper and popped abit on the overrun but it wasn't loud in anyway. With 1 being a standard system and 10 being a milltek turbo-back with decat, it was about a 3. It is probably enough to keep you going until you save enough, although if it was me I would just put the money towards the exhaust in the first place as its an extra 10% of the money towards one ( plus fuel getting there etc) :)
Out of interested who will do it for £50?

It's a place called tms in knaresborough, they did my decat for 50 quid too

Is this legal for an MOT? I have the TFSI FR....

Like the idea of this muchly!

its 80 quid. just been to cybox in Bromborough Wirral.

it looks like a really good place. cat back system for 300 approximatly.

spoke to a decent lad called graeme who booked me in. I dont think he'll be doing the work another fella i spoke to will be but i never caught his name.

Yeah theres 2 of them. Im guessing u removed the 1 u can see easily under the car.
There's another at the very start of the downpipe straight out of the turbo. Its even more restrictive than the 1 you've removed, 800 cell I believe.
The only way to run decat without an eml is to have a stage 2 remap. Probably best to get the car plugged in every now and then just incase u develop an actual fault.

Thanks mate, is it easy enough to remove?

On a budget, just remove the downpipe from the car and smash the middle out of the cat. Obviously that will ruin it forever but it would be a bugger to cut and weld the pipe there as its right on the turbo flange.
Alternatively go on ebay and buy a 3" decat downpipe for 100 quid or so and replace it, including the part you've already had welded. Tbh i would do this otherwise wen u do get a 3" cat back u'll have a 2.5" downpipe which will cost u again to replace. Spend a little bit more now and save a lot later :)
