Evening

I have a Cupra R 2012 with dual climate control unit. When the heater comes on and the fan speed is increased there is an annoying buzz/squeeking as if it is caused by the fan. I am aware that the heater fan unit is underneath the glovebox and it could be this that needs lubricating but the noise seems to be more central by the vents that blow up and onto the windscreen. Are there any more fans situated here or is there only one fan by the glovebox area and the noise could travel from this. Someone had also mentioned it could be a heater resistor at fault when the load is increased on the fan????. I was going to remove the fan if possible the weekend and lubricate it, what do you think? any advice would be appreciated.

I know just wandered if it was something I could do myself as I hate taking it to a dealer as they usually break something else in the process!!

Plus if I could identify what the issue is and if a part is required it would stop any problem solving and return trips.

Dont know if its any help but there are also different flap motors and teeth behind the climate control unit.
Could be that something is making more noise when you increase the air flow from the unit.

Getting there is not so hard, remove fascia around stereo, then you"ll see 2 screws on the top of the stereo compartment/bottom of the climate control unit. Remove those 2 and get trim remover tool behind the climate control plastic where it sits on top of the dash. Pull the plastic out of it clips and the whole unit shoild come off. There are 3 connectors on the climate unit which the clips/locks have to be released before pulling off. Now your looking into a big hole of flap motors/ air flow tubes.

See page 1 of my rr thread for any pics.

I know how you feel I took mine in for an annoying rattle on the centre console got it back and the air bag light was on so went back in and told the service guy. The response was cant have been us we haven't been anywhere near the airbag...... I then informed him that he was a pratt and educated on the location of the main airbag control module. :ban:
