The device sounds good, I run standard unleaded, but may on occasion run with 98 and would also love the anti theft. I've not heard of any Leon's being stolen round my way, usually VW, Audi and BMW, but you never know!

Without going into too many details obviously how does the anti-theft part work? I'm curious as I've just been looking at a few different companies for remaps and noticed the "anti-theft" feature but not actually found out what it means, sounds like something I would be very interested in though, every little bit of extra security helps :)

TIA

EMCS Usage

Hey guys thanks for the chatter here--we're very excited about this release and I can confirm that Valet mode is available, but the anti-theft feature had to be left out due to lack of memory in the ECU. Actually, a completely new method of switching had to be developed for these ECUs.

Coming from the US market where a majority of these cars/customers have APR and ECMS, I have to say I'm pretty surprised at the interest in anti-theft here, especially since it's a feature people seldom talk about using. So, why is the anti-theft so important to you guys? :)

Hi Evan,
I have had the software updated on my Cupra.
After reading the manual I found here:
http://www.goapr.com/support/dpp_emcs_instructions.pdf
I still have a couple of questions.
1. How do you enter Valet mode? How do you exit Valet mode?
2. My car has the EMCS unlocked and can change programmes fine. However, if I want to
lock it again so that my PIN is required to change programmes, how do I do that?
Is the information that I found here
http://www.goapr.com/support/emcs/mk5-single-cancel.php
under "Lock ECU", valid?

Thanks
Peter

Theres no valet mode

Umm... interesting.. Evan mentioned there was in post #14 of this thread.
Andrew, do you use the lock ECU function or even if it is available?

Strange when Keith flashed mine he said all that was available was Stock,95,98 and 104

It locks when car is started I think or when keys are fully removed from ignition.

Remember Andrew, as a beta tester it was likely unavailable for your ECU when we flashed the software on your car. It is definitely available now--I'm staring at the programs on our server as I type this. :)

Valet mode limits the car to 4-5k rpms, practically eliminates boost, and limits the top speed to nearly 40mph. It's a way to guarantee it's not going far or fast until you change it back.

Hey Peter

1. Entering Valet mode is no different than entering the Stock, 95RON, or 98RON modes. Hold the set button and release once you've reached the slot designated for Valet. Did you APR distributor not give you a manual with the order of your programs?

2. To lock your ECU, hold the resume button to cycle through the features. Security lockout is the only feature available for these cars at the moment. Here's a link to the manual online. Here's an alternate link to the EMCS manual: http://www.goapr.com/support/dpp_emcs_instructions.pdf

Your cruise control stalk is Type B in section 4 if I'm not mistaken. Follow those instructions. If you still have trouble feel free to email me directly or call the office. :)

Hi Evan,
Thanks for taking time to reply. Much appreciated.
You are quite right. I do have a type B cruise control.
Regarding the lockout. Understand now.
I think I just had some confusion as to the terminology used. There is mention of "Locking Out the ECU" (in s2.4) and then the security lockout feature later on. I was just careful that I wasn't doing something I didn't fully understand.

As for the Valet mode. Yes I did receive the order of programs.
They are listed as Stock, 95, 98 and 104. I've not tried the 104 option as I have no 104 petrol :) So the question is, is that slot really valet?

Nooooooooooo. If your car was not flashed with Valet mode, you don't have Valet mode. Whatever you do, don't drive your car in 104 mode if you don't have 104 in the tank!!! You should have been offered Valet mode when you had the car upgraded. Please contact your APR agent to have that programmed instead of 104RON if you wish.

Speaking of which Mr Light! I need a visit sometime this year to swap some maps around with my Leon :D, I still don't have the security lock out function sob sob

Ps. Still going strong! Inters this year for sure!

Dissables the accelerator so car can't be driven away, but engine will start.
Put mine into valet by "mistake" for the Mrs. She sent me an angry text saying she couldn't go any faster than 50mph.:D

That sounds pretty good, I'd be interested in that for sure :)
