I have a 2012 Leon copa. This is probably a really dumb question but how do you tell whether the lights are on? In other cars I have driven, a symbol comes up on the dash but I can't see one. Is there any way of knowing whether they are on (apart from visually and the switch turned to on), for example in 'auto' mode - how do I know if they've come on?

Thanks!

Doesn't the symbol on the light switch change colour? Mine doesn't as its old but I think the newer ones do.

Um, I'm not sure but it's kinda far down by my knee so I can't see it when driving. I'll have a look tomorrow, thanks!

Thanks. I would've thought it'd be more obvious than that. Never mind. Guess if it's dark enough you can see that they are on anyway. I'm just a bit untrusting of automatic things!

I still don't really understand. I drove home tonight, started off quite light (6pm, Midlands UK) when I wouldn't have had lights on usually and over the course of the journey got dark to virtually night (7.20pm). I had the lights set to auto. All parts of the light switch dial were illuminated red except the sidelights, which were green. The dipped headlights (I think) were on from the beginning of the journey. When I got home, I played with the switch a bit. The sidelights remained green unless I turned to 0. None of the other symbols went green. When I turned them off and back to auto, they briefly went orange before turning red again. Does auto ever turn on just sidelights or is it always dipped headlights (and thus I can safely presume the green light means they're fully on).

Thanks!

If you leave switch in "auto" it will always turn dipped beam on.

Easiest way I've found to know if the headlights are on or not (if on auto, which mine are always on) is via the sat nav, when the lights come on it switches the sat nav to night time mode :)

Hadn't thought of that, cheers!
