Leon FR TDI Vibration

Hi All,

A few days ago I noticed that there is a vibration sound coming from the engine bay around the 1500rpm mark. This happens regardless if the car is in neutral/in gear or if the clutch is engaged or not. At first I thought it may have been a loose bit of trim in the engine bay but I cannot see anything obvious.

The car is a 57 plate FR TDI with 54k on the clock.

I will be popping into SEAT as it is still under warranty but wondered if anyone had any ideas what may be the cause?

The noise can be heard if you hold it at 1500rpm or if the revs are rising or falling past this point.

Hey dude, I had this...

It was the Engine cover, it's only secured by rubber push fittings which age/shrink over time, 70p ish from dealer and 2 mins to replace.

Not saying of course this if what you have but an inexpensive first call?

I had another listen with the bonnet open last night, it sounds like its coming from the bottom of the engine bay. I suspect I may had popped off a bit of the undertray whilst going over some long grass (one of my relatives lives at the end of a farm track). Think I'll be taking the Ibiza there from now on, lol.

Quick trip to the dealer and it turns out the airbox lid was slightly loose.

I am having this vibration at the moment i had a clutch and dmf fitted yesterday and now something is vibrating now at 1500rpm and wasnt there before

Mines the same, but is duct taped now so it cant rattle

Louder than you would expect from something that small yes. Very annoying but sorted now its taped up.

I was going to say the airbox. My car started doing it, sounded like it was coming from the back off the dash, but I fact it wasn't. Strange how noise can travel!

That's exactly it mate behind the dash sounds spot on

I stand corrected it was exactly that mate I just clipped it back on and bingo happy days
