...found out that the car has been remapped by its previous owner.

I have informed my insurance company, but I am contemplating having the map removed by SEAT (presume they can flash the standard map over the top?)

It was done by a company up North who specialise in tuning Evo's (company is called Evotune).

Worried that it is just a shitty generic map that has been tweaked?

Map feels fine tbf, and the lad from BCS who test drove it didn't say whether the car felt shite or had a crap power delivery (or maybe he didn't say anything because he had just fitted me exhaust lol!)

So, my options are:

1. Bear with it until I can afford APR Stage 2
2. Get it removed by SEAT

What do you think??

I am going to get a copy of the RR that the previous owner has and I will upload it and you can let me know what you think of it

Log it mate. Check for timing pull on 020 across 4 cylinders. Anything more than -0.3 is edgy

Evotune have a very good reputation mapping cars, not just Mitsubishi's.

I wouldn't worry at all about it being a rubbish map. I would just enjoy it until going to APR stage 2.

I am sure a mate of mine has mentioned them before, but I've read a few shitty reviews on the net

Like I said, the map itself feels fine, just worried that its generic and not designed for this engine

EDIT: hope you understand I am not slagging evotune off at all.

Most of the maps are generic mate, even the revo one lol.

I doubt they fired a map on your car designed for an Evo lol, the engine wouldn't have lasted very long I think.

Difference between a generic REVO/APR/GIAC map is that they have gone through alot of R&D before being released.

Most other generic maps have had very little R&D if any.

What they will of done is done some tweaking to what they think are the limits of the hardware etc...

On the other hand REVO,APR,GIAC and R-T3ch know the limits of the hardware and know the twaks to make to get the best delivery etc

They do quite a lot of remaps on the vxr so I can imagine that it's identical software but tweaked a bit??

Both 2.0T. Both similar in power

Nah completely different, Different engine, Different ECU etc etc mapping aint that easy.

Chances are it'll be a very safe and tame generic map.
If it runs ok then either get it logged or live with it until such time you want more power.

Wouldn't tar all maps with the same brush,

Alter one perimeter and the generic map is now custom to the car it's on,

My car has a cheaper map on it, done by the guy who does awsome tdi maps, and developed by ex revo/apr staff. After seeing logs from a revo file and my own there pretty dam identical, only I paid £180 not £500

Logging is easy but you need the full vagcom version.

Log 115, 002 and 020 that's boost, maf and timing pull.

What exactly do I need for the ful version of vagcom?

Don't really mind paying for the stuff.
