Lowering mk1 Leon

What's up lads? I'm just after buying a mk1 Leon and I'm thinking of lowering it I was just wondering has any one on this lowered their car 50mm or more and if ye have could ya post a pic just to see what it looks like ? Thank lads

Leon? Leon Cupra? LCR? as they all have different ride heights so 50mm sits differently on all of them lol

Hi mate mine is 60 mm on coilovers very low 18 inch with a stretch and spacers
Don't try and do it if your getting a diesel you will have no sump left
Also got a shallow sump

I would get coilovers over springs because u will wish u went lower, well thats what I done lol
This is mine its a cupra r not sure what urs is?

Its all the way down tucking the rear wheels front will be lower soon

My old one was on Coilovers, probably down about 50mm. Nothing would bang other than on full lock when reversing.

Quite tough pulling off my drive and on some speedys but other than that it was fine.

It's easier to drop the rounded fronts as opposed to a cupra R as the FR+ I have now scrapes everywhere and is standard.

She is just the normal Leon 1.6 petrol with 18 inch rs6's and I want to go as low as I can with her

I'd advise coilovers, but no poverty spec specials... Mine came with some and they were crap so I forked out for weitecs and I couldn't be happier!

mines a PD130 i never had sump problems, ever and mine was down about 180mm just used 25mm engine raisers. They are much better than a shallow sump

If you want to go as low as you can then coilovers will be the way to go.

What's your budget?

probably had about 5" gap as standard haha!

i never actually thought to measure it when i was static though, this was it without the helpers in on the coils and lowered a bit then i went down to only having an inch left on the coils and the adjusters out on the back

Don't just slam it. It will look stupid! There's nothing worse than a car slammed with poor fitment.

To get a good stance, it doesn't need to be DECKED.

180mm? You'd have no helpers, shorter top mounts and major works to get coilovers to go 180mm. Even H&R Ultra-lows don't go down 180mm

Well my prob is this being my first car and all between buying it insuring it and taxing it has sort of blown a hole in my budget for anything major so my plan was to stick some lowering springs into her first and when the bank account refuels a bit to she'll out for the coilovers and thanks a million guys ur all so helpful
