dilemma Cupra 280 5 DR DSG or FR 150 5DR dsg

Just retired. Want a more modern chassis / dab / front sensors / bluetooth + fun too - Annual estimated mileage now 5 - 6 K UK based - too much cost to upgrade chassis 62 reg Octavia VRS DSG CR hatch dsg - 3 years old September - only 16,000 miles genuine

Sensible head says : Alor Blue

150 FR DSG + dcc / acc / Full link app / Performance alloys / Sound pack / Cupra bucket seats (correct) + have set winter wheels + tyres - £28745 before approx. 19% discount + 0% finance
Insurance £20 per annum more than Cupra! - Rfl £150 per annum less

Heart says : Alor Blue

Cupra + acc / / Full link app / Black pack / Sound pack / Disc lock + other mod / Dash cam / 18" set wheels + winter tyres - £32750 before 16.5 % disc at present + 0% finance - still a bit of room to negotiate?

150 FR 5K of options - more to loose + believe Cupra will depreciate a bit less but more chance of getting stolen - Cupra standard wheels confirmed 30 + weeks delivery

Dilemma is :

Find best deal on offer to order now - No chance of finding FR + DCC to try out have driven Cupra last year twice - need a longer test drive:

If Cupra route - take 290 engine or wait for face lift in 2016 + rumoured further enhancements!!

OK Only live once - already crossed off Audi A3 150 COD Sportback over £27000 on road + so so std colour choice - facelift due sometime in 2016 too + Golf R only short test drive, did not like driving position.

Well the 150 FR DSG has the 7 speed "dry clutch" gearbox with can handle only 250 Nm of torque and is known for it's problems in the past.
The 6 speed "wet clutch" DSG of the Cupra (and Golf7R) is a further development of the now to 450 Nm torque limited gearbox and is proven to be very good.
So when money isn't a deciding factor I would always go for the Cupra. It is a no brainer in fact.

Have driven dsg only cars for the last 8 years. Had a few issues with 6 speed boxes + Fr 4 K cheaper

Why not compare the 1.8 TSI with the Cupra?

I'd buy the Cupra, although the 150 is a fantastic car, plenty of grunt and torque but lacks a special feel, perhaps something you'd want now being retired.

Understand a strange choice.

Leon 1.8 old engine. Not considered. now rumoured to be getting COD in Audi a3

Audi a3 150 sportback s line s tronic - very nice to drive + good ride + comfortable

Golf Gtd dsg poor seats + ride worse than audi. Tried 2 - 1 on 19" rims ride was like old Leon Mk2 FR - rock hard. Progressive steering only positive

Leon 184 FR + ST. Steering / handling felt woolly + engine missing something. my Octavia felt more together.

Cupra 280 dsg wow. Waited to try bucket seats (std seats not right for me). Has taken nearly a year to find a car locally (within 100 kms) + waited to see if 265 would be released with 5 dr + dsg in UK, now gone, like factory bridgestones.

Leon 1.4 150 Only now available with dsg + dcc. Waiting for cost of Cupra bucket seats

I only need to drive a car a few miles / kilometres to know if it feels right for me.

Ok, well thought over then.
I had 2 Seats before, a FR-TDI 2007and a FR-TDI 2010 and before them many other cars ranging from Alfa to BMW and have been involved in car racing in my younger years so I know how to compare.
For me all comes down to the driving experience and price level (what you get for it).
After many diesels I guessed not to bad to go for a petrol since here in Holland diesel is very expensive to drive due to the high road tax of nearly 1500 euro's a year.
So I got the Cupra and I really must be honest: the car is immense fast, well build (I have a DSG) and with the new Michelin Super Sports tires it finally performs as I like (had the Bridgestones on before).
Did some laps at Zandvoort and the Nurburgring and with my experience I can say it is, as it comes from the factory, in fact a good track car.
So after your retirement have some fun and get a Cupra!
