Hi Guys,

Looking to book my first service and I read that booking online gets you a year extension to breakdown cover.

When i take it in I will need a courtesy car to get to work but I dont see an option for that when i book online.

Does anyone have experience of this? Do i need to phone them up and explicitly request one?

How does the breakdown cover work? Do you get a notice saying its renewed for a year? I got nothing originally but a keyring with a phone number!

The dealer should (should) automatically add the breakdown cover on when the service is completed.

Apparently the breakdown cover is only added if you book at a dealer which is on the fixed price service scheme. Not all are apparently. That's what SEAT Customer Services told me.

Having just recently had a right SAGA with getting my car serviced - all to do with failed online bookings, dealer switches, missed breakdown cover, etc etc my advice would be this -

1. Book online as normal.
2. Once booked, contact dealer to confirm that they've definitely got your booking.
3. Mention the breakdown thingy at the same time.
4. When you drop it off, mention the breakdown cover again.

:)

I eventually got the breakdown cover added to mine - no letter or anything like that - I guess cos they do it electronically. But oddly, no email either. That might be because mine was added after the event via Seat CS. I guess under normal circumstances there'd be a sheet of paper from the dealer.

just had my second service (2 years and 20k miles) and was told the breakdown cover is extended for another year...pleased, I am.

It's pretty good to have for free, mine is 7 years old now and i have had free AA cover since day one. Never booked online, always over phone and confirmed I wanted it when I paid for service.

Couple of days later get a confirmation email of the cover and letter to confirm I am covered .:)
