Fuel filling issues

For some reason i seem to have issues in getting petrol into my car.
I own ibiza 1.4 5dr and ive had as much between 50 to 60 litres into the tank. Im not struggling getting 40 +. Just filled it up tonight and it did the clicking at 38 litres even though the dash said 10 miles left.
Ive checked and its not pouring out nor has any weird smells. Ive tried pressing that black switch where you fill as well as not but no difference.

Any ideas?

I normally pull back on the tab at the right side of the fuel filler and let all the air out the tank and then half trigger the pump

Tried that no real joy. But is it something you have experience too?

Yeah every I fill the tank up from empty I have the problem, the tanks roughly 55 liters, and I'll only get 30-40L in but If I fill up at say start of the little bars I can get 50 liters in, it's strange I think it's the amount of air that's in the tank when it's empty causing the problems

Well mines a 1.4 5 door as well pre face-lift, wonder if they solved it on the face-lift model

I haven't experienced the issues you are having but is the tank not supposed to be 45L?
Mine's an 09 1.4 petrol and the most I've ever put in is 42.77L, that was when the range said 0 miles before filling up.
Every time I fill it up until it clicks then I wait 30 secs before trying again to try and get the most I can get into it.

Never noticed that problem with mine...
Also 1.4 5 door 2008

Don't ever put 60 litres no it, i've read it could damage a very expensive filter it has. Basically you are soaking that filter who it's supposed to remain dry and then it starts smelling like gasoline...
Don't know if it's true though

I always put 50L maximum

besides at some point the gasoline is being sucked back.

Edit: it's the carbon filter

You can remove the air by touching the little tube on the right side and it can take more around 15L

Mine gives the first click too at 40 or so, deppending how much fuel it has, it's normal, you are not supposed to put more than 45L.

Just frustrating cos get more than 300miles now out a tank

Did you press that small tube on the right with the fuel gun while you tried to fill more?
Mine has to be pressed not just for a second but the whole time after the 40L mark.

If even doing that doesn't work then you have something clogged.

Yeah i do that you can hear a hissing as its releasing air but keeps clicking when filling

You have to press at the same time you fill. If even doing that doesn't work then proably you have something clogged

If you pull back and tilt you can press it let air out then continue filling if you pull the trigger all the way up it will click out but if you half trigger or quarter trigger you can get 5-6 more liters
