I'd be maybe looking at seeing if the ops can be retrofitted - I saw online it could be but unsure if that requires whole new sensors (I doubt it). When I get my phone call to say mine is ready for pickup I'll likely opt for the £500 compensation with front sensors and ensure I get first service thrown in.

Paid for pretty much every spec (although am starting to regret not getting SEAT Sound already!) and this is a real downer :(

It can be retrofitted, as you said there are companies online who will fit it, was a couple of years back £895 front, rear and ops.
But if seat retrofit your fronts, be aware they are likely to fit the cheapest cobra kit, which are not compatible with the ops systems and won't work with it.

Well this is a crap situation :( First SEAT and it's not looking like a great start...

I'd have been happy with just rear with the parking ops, but it's the optical that really sets it apart.

The car is for my 'better half' so yes the optics is far more important than the £500 compo.
I currently drive an S3 which was a cancelled factory order so I had no say in speccing it up..As part of the deal I insisted on front and rear sensors and to be honest even though they look OEM on the outside they sound like a £5.00 Friday Special from fleabay..Her indoors currently has a 2014 plate FR which has the optical park assist and each time she gets into my car she always takes the p*ss out of the sound of the sensors...Grrrrr

Would this be any good for me

Wouldn't consider it unless it was as good as original

Not sure, but on the positive side. this company does appear to be quite specialised & mentions that they fit the fronts sensors WITH optics, using OEM parts, so I don't think there would be any difference from factory fit? They charge just over £500 (with VAT) to fit the front sensors with optics, which I think is quite a bit more than amount that Seat are offering you guys in compensation? Would be ideal if your dealer could get these guys into your local dealer to do the retrofit (at the expense of Seat), before you accept the car.

I might very well be in the same situation, my build week was last week, apparently car is now on a ship heading this way and is build status 30... Will be interesting what the dealer can find out/seat UK say.

As for the latest info in the brochure on the seat site I'm guessing thats feb 2016

It has the following information on Page 11 of the PDF:
FRONT & REAR PARKING SENSOR.
These intelligent sensors help guide you into a parking space without incident, warning you if you are too close to the kerb, or another car. Standard on FR and CUPRA models, available as an option
for SE and X-PERIENCE models as part of Park assistance pack.

As far as I'm concerned thats what I've ordered and thats what I expect on the car, if Seat cannot deliver on that then I will not be picking up the car and I will be wanting my deposit back in full. The only other thing I would potentially do is let Seat re-order my car in the correct spec and I would be prepared to wait 10-12 weeks, I would however want compensating for this, the dealer/seat would also need to provide me with another car until mine arrives.

I will be rather annoyed if this has been 'missed' as I have been asking for updates throughout the whole process...

Hopefully have an update tomorrow....

Interested in your update.

Does anyone have a PDF version of the old brochure, I'd like to be armed with a copy.

The current literature on the Seat website is a bit of a mess. Part of the February brochure has been updated to reflect the changes in spec for the FR (Rear sensors only), but on a different page in the same brochure, it mentions Front & Rear Are standard on the FR model. The Feb price list is up to date from what I can see & includes the new FR Assistance pack as an option.

I do not have a PDF of the January brochure or price list, but when I ordered my car last week, I took a hard copy price list from the dealer (did not realise it at the time, but the price list is dated January). The January price list clearly states that Front & Rear (with optics) are standard on the FR. Clearly, if you placed an order in January, there is no excuse, Seat sold you a car with Front & Rear sensors.

Next day had a call saying that in build week 9 Seat had supply issues with the front sensors....

This sounds like the dipping door mirror fiasco which affected my car 2013 and many others. The door mirror motor was absent or incorrect so that the mirror would not return from the dipped position after reversing. Solution? Delete to keep the lines running. Customer service? Keep quiet and hope they won't notice. Strangely many did especially on the this forum. Solution? Nothing no replacement when they became available either.

Highly likely they would be using the correct kit the same as the factory would and they apear to have done a few mk3 leons, will it be as good as the original, a lot comes down to the fitter and they are probably good, but they could be the world's number one fitter, the problem is it will never be a factor install it will always be an aftermarket installation and as probably many of us who have had lots of cars over the years know buying a car that has had aftermarket stuff added by who knows who is often a recipe for disaster.
Personally I would think very carefully about having after market stuff fitted to a brand new car.

Tbh I would have ordered my New Seat Leon with them already to save all this hassle ;)
what's that you say, you did, but seat are fuc*king everyone over and not giving them what they paid for, what barstools seat are being :censored:

I spoke to my dealer today:

They confirmed my car was at status 30 and in transit between the factory and the uk . They had heard of the sensor changes as they received a memo about 5 days ago - however they were of the understanding the changes were from Q2 2016.

They are going to get in touch with seat tomorrow (not open today).

What a f&ck up.

Just another thought on this:

Has anyone spoken to Seat UK directly about this? I have just written an e-mail and plan to follow it up tomorrow via a phone call - lines are open 8:30 - 17:30.

I suggest all those affected ring up and atleast get your case known - the more cases reported the more likely a suitable solution will be found. Strength in numbers and all that.

Yes spoke to them last Thursday, Customer Service didn't know anything about it said they would call be back
They did after a couple of hours saying they are aware and have given their dealers options to sort it out, called dealer who have been told to offer £100 to take as is NO!
I then called Seat back, the guy agreed £100 not good enough, but as it's Easter I have to wait until they can work something out
So all very unsatisfactory

I'm probably cancelling tomorrow
