Electrical problems on 2015 Leon

Hello fellow Seat owners!

I've just joined you by buying a used 2015 Leon with 24k miles on the clock, but unfortunately things aren't going as smoothly, as I'd hoped. I've encountered three problems so far.

1) The touch screen is sometimes unresponsive. I get the impression this is somewhat common when it's cold? I'm not too worried about this, but I'm sharing in case it's relevant.

2) When I'm listening to the radio, if I turn on the rear window heating element I lose signal. It completely wipes out DAB and many FM stations, although I can still get some (I assume stronger) FM stations. I noticed this on the first day I owned it, and the dealer looked at it but said they couldn't find the exact cause so will need it again for longer after Christmas. They think they'll probably have to replace the rear window.

3) I filled up the fuel tank until the pump clicked yesterday, but when I got back in the car, only 7 of 8 bars were lit (i.e. not showing a full tank). I've also noticed the range and MPG seem a bit erratic, but I haven't driven it enough for these to settle. I haven't asked the dealer about this yet, but I will do.

My main worry is that these could be related and could signal a more serious underlying electrical problem. Can anyone give me any advice on this? I bought it from a Seat dealer and they've been helpful so far, but if I've got a lemon that's going to keep giving me problems then I'll need to consider rejecting the car.

Thanks for your help!

I would try a head unit reset first as all three issues seem to go through the head unit.

I've tried resetting it in the settings if that's what you mean? The dealer had it for a few hours, so so hopefully they tried any software resets that might help... Thanks for the suggestion!

A friend with a '16 Golf GTi loses the rear view image when certain radio stations are on. H e was told it was a processing issue with the head unit.

If you've just bought the car you should hand it back to the dealer and tell them to either fix it or keep it. I've been there with having to reject a car and it's important that you put the onus on the dealer and that you make sure everything is documented - make sure your communications are in writing. It could be a minor issues with an easy fix, but that's for them to get to the bottom of.

Hopefully you'll get it sorted quickly and easily but it's best practice to be cautious just in case.

I'm sure the DAB antenna is integrated into the rear windscreen heating element so sounds like it could all be infotainment related.

The fuel issue sounds like something I had on my mk6 Golf R where no matter what I did I couldn't get the needle to read a full tank only ever went to 9/10th full

^^^Agreed about antenna, as Don-P said as you have just purchased the car take it back and get the dealer to sort it. With regards to the Fuel guage it is possible via VCDS / OBD11 To re-calibrate the gauge and its a very simple task but your dealer can sort this for you.

Thanks for all of the advice!

Sounds like it shouldn't signal am underlying problem, just a bit of bad luck.

I'm going to give the dealer the car for a week (they're giving a free courtesy car) and tell them if the problems aren't fixed then I'll be rejecting the car. Fingers crossed for an easy resolution.
