Hi all, first post! I'm a long time driver of a lovely MK1 FR TDI and am in mourning after it got written off by somebody driving up my side of the road a few weeks ago :-(

Still, time to join the future! We've settled on a Leon ST to replace it and found what looks like the ideal one today, a 2016 (registered september 2016) FR Technology. Two things that I think kept the price down enough that we could afford it - the Full Link system isn't activated (it says it is present but needs activation) and the navigation system says the database isn't present - there is no SD card in the slot.

Struggling to make sense of all the various information and stuff regarding how or if we would be able to re-activate these two items and how much it would cost. Looks like the Full Link activation is a dealer job and maybe £200ish, am I right? What about the satnav? The car's still going to be a good buy unless this isn't possible or is ridiculously expensive to do!

Should be fine to activate full link. And I think you’re right about dealership cost.
With full link you could use sat nav through carplay or android auto. But if you want Seat nav then I expect you should be able to get sd card with maps from dealer. Quite costly I think. So you might want to think about just getting full link and use Maps through that. Mixed views on Apple maps but some folk don’t like Seat nav either!

Sounds like we could have the same Nav / Head unit model.
Mine's 6P0 type navigation, MIB2 head unit.
I bought a second hand card (Seat SD card Europa (v2) Navigation) for around £30 from ebay.
...and the best thing about the 6P0 is that you can fairly straight forwardly update to the latest maps (see this thread):
http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=388586

But, I already had a working navigation system and SD Card, I just didn't want to mess with the original card that came with the car in case it all went wrong. Still using the ebay card today and gone through several map updates on that same SD card.

If the nav system has never been active it's possible that you'd need to get a dealer to do that and, as far as can tell from reading a lot from this forum, there's no mention of a hack to activate full link yourself, so you'll need to go to the dealer for that as well.
