Key fob battery low

I reckon I only replaced my battery a couple of months ago and I'm already getting the warning it needs replacing again. I'm sure it's due to holding the lock button down longer in order to activate the folding wing mirrors. Anyone else confirm that this drains the battery at a ridiculously quick rate?

Mines going in as a software issue next week. Two keys with the same warning after it came back from the dealership after a repair (this includes the spare I've never used).
The car is only 2 years old.

Replaced the battery in one of the keys and the warning has returned after a week.

Other than the warning I've had not actual issue using the keys.

One thing I would like to suggest is to always use a 'branded' battery such as Panasonic, Sony and GP, I swear by GP myself, also there are quite a lot of fake branded batteries around especially Duracell, so steer clear of markets etc.

Might be cheaper in the long run to get carista and get the one touch folding mirrors.

I required a new set of keys to fix the warning message on mine.

The dealer had 2 attempts at replacing batteries, re syncing things and reprogramming modules with no joy.

All covered under warranty fortunately.

I've had the car coming up to 12mths now. Can't remember exactly when the message first appeared but I thought fair enough could genuinely be a low battery as it was 2nd hand. Unfortunately when I bought replacements I didn't get the correct size - bought CR2016 instead of CR2032 - Read the EXPIRY date not the battery size! The CR2016 worked fine for a short while then the message re-occurred after a couple of months. Again I thought fair enough - lower powered battery etc so I replaced with a correct CR2032 (Engergizer) and the message has come back again almost as quick. Interesting that Big Col had to have new keys. I have a spare so might run with that for a while see what happens................

I had the message come up at 1yr 4 months, the battery mine had in was a cr2025 so replaced with the same.

The correct battery size is CR2025. 20 is the diameter (20mm) and 25 is the thickness (2.5mm).
As Wolone says, only buy the best.

When you press the button to unlock the car it's just a momentary blip and the battery could last for years. If you hold the button down to operate the windows or mirrors, just think how many momentary blips each press represents.

My bad - it is a CR2025 - that's what I've had in for the last couple of mths after the CR2016 mistake. Agree with the point about the extra power consumption for the longer press but still disappointed in the length of time it is taking for the battery to run low. That's if it genuinely is a low battery. I think the original CR2025 was a Panasonic - maybe the Energizer is a poor replacement.

My car which I've had from new is approaching 3.5 years old and I've just had the replace battery warning message. I use the press and hold locking lots of times to fold the mirrors.

Considering how long my battery has lasted, if your getting the warning message so soon after replacing the batter, you've either got faulty batteries or a problem elsewhere.

So I've lived with the low battery message for almost 1 month without any issues until this weekend when I did the long press to lock the doors and fold the mirrors they would not fold. Changed the battery to another energizer as it was a twin pack. Will see how long this lasts.......

Came up again this morning a few weeks after the batteries were replaced for the 2nd time by my local dealership.

I'm beginning to suspect this is temperature-related as mine "got better" on it's own when the weather warmed up recently, but has started it again this week - 3-year old car, original battery...... Being traded in Thursday though!

Strangely enough when I left work this evening the warning didn't appear.

Just got the warning on my old car, it's two years and two months old. It might be a coincidence, but it happened almost immediately after I opened the key fob to take the chrome bit off the top (in order to fit it to the key on the new car).
I've never had to replace a battery that quickly on a key for any other car I've owned.

2 years and 1 week since first registration. Uncanny!
Battery replaced, still got the warning, even with the previously unused spare.
Waited half an hour (ie looked up the problem on here) both keys now fine.
for how long...

my Car is 4.5yr old & had been telling me for months that its key fob battery needs replacing. Guess what after 18monts of it doing so it still works 100% fine. figure that one out. I'll poss put a new one in over the winter.

got this message also... only owned the car since july and its not even 3 years old, dealership are changing batteries this coming friday and reprogramming if needed all free of charge. tried my spare key and the message doesnt come up with that one. hopefully its not something i have to do often, although some of the other posts here dont give me alot of hope
