So, it seems an M2 isn't actually that fast, and a blue one in NI is driven by an eejit. Yesterday morning on the motorway one pulled out into the fast lane just as I put the foot down, no indicator to suggest he was going to, he overestimated his car's capabilities. I'd have parked in his back seat if not for hitting the brakes. The guy thought he'd pull out & take off. Not a bit of it. I planted it again and his M2 was simply in the way, had to back off to part throttle. I gesticulated as to my impression of the guys driving abilities. In summation, a Cupra with JB4 & FBO mods has a fair bit more poke than an M2.

The M2 could still be in the run in period where the performance is restricted? What are they stock? 450bhp ish?

Two totally different cars really, one doesn't purchase a RWD car for straight line performance, as we can all go fast on the straights, but I get where your coming from if your keeping up with a more powerful car around the twisty bits..

Cupra’s only down 20hp on hp/tonne. 210hp/tonne plays 230hp/tonne. If you got a head start or the bmw was in the wrong gear, it will have made the difference.

Standard M2 puts out 365bhp.

M2 Competition puts out 410bhp.

What you putting out in your Cupra?

Not had it dyno'd yet since adding the turbo back BCS Powervalve exhaust. I was running a Cobrasport DP previously, with all the rest of the stage 2 mods. Entry level stage 2? An M2 runs 405 bhp/410 PS in top spec, and weighs 1570 kg, a fair bit more.

With the dp only, prior to the turbo back exhaust, my power to weight was approx 250 bhp/ton. I'm guessing it's marginally more now.

I find that's where the Cuora does best, pushing the big money mobiles in the twisty stuff. The relatively low weight coupled with good tyres, a digbone insert & modding the differential via obd seems to have sorted all the niggles out. The big Brembos help cimpensate for over enthuiasm. Just gone through the pads in 15k miles. Switching to Tarox ones.

Sounds more like the guy didn't know how to drive, in a straight line the m2 should be eating even a well modded cupra

I love my Sub 8 but the M2 is not only quicker but would feel much nicer to drive and can easily map to around 500 bhp but the Cupra is a great car and punches above it's weight.

There was a drag race video between M2 (not sure which one) vs BMW 340i, and it was tied after 1/4 mile. Also aren't M2s manual, i guess as the driver downshifted, one has no hands to indicated hee hee..
