Ive just read on a VAG forumn that the new WLTP compliant cars with the E888 have lost the port injection as its no longer needed because of the new particle filter fitted.
Anyone know if thats the case because if it is im gutted.
My other half uses the car daily but only does a journey of around 5 miles so if its lost the port injection we basically have the Gen2 version of the engine which suffered badly from coking up in the inlet valves.
When i get home i suppose i will have to take the engine cover off and check to see if the fuel rail is there.
Seems VAG have decided to cut lots of corners if thats the case.

Yes, apparently both the Golf R and GTI Performance models have lost port injection.

The new VW Polo GTI which has a version of the 2.0 litre EA888 engine apparently hasn’t lost it though - an owner who has taken delivery of their WLTP compliant Polo GTI has posted a picture of the engine with the cover removed that shows the port injector fuel rail, fuel pressure sensor and port injector fuel connector and it’s the same as another owner’s pre WLTP car.

There’s a long discussion thread on this subject over on VWROC forum; it might be the thread you’re referring to.

my understanding of all the cars i've seen so far this is true, welcome back to coked up engines but if you only keeping your car for 3-4yrs i wouldn't worry about it

Yes thats the thread. Also on a skoda forumn i just found.
One guy mentioned that the older engines that suffered with carbon build up had an egr valve but on the E888 it doesnt have it which helps.
Oh well il just have to show the other half the thread and tell her i have to take it out every weekend for spirited drive to help prevent build up

We average 6-7k a year but its the small trips my other half takes that worries me.
Get rid in 4 years and then i can have a performance hybrid :drive1:
