Afternoon Jay, Please feel free to contact Riverside SEAT in Scarborough and we'll see if we cant assist. Contact number is 01723 862242 and yes we do have proper fish and chips here! - Regards Andrew

Funnily enough Andrew, I spoke to a very helpful chap by the name of Dean in your service department earlier - I've sent an email to him with the attached images.

Thanks for the reply.

I've got the optional Alcantara seats on my Leon which have leatherette bolsters and I've got the same problem. The outside bolster on the driver's seat is creased and cracked in a couple of places as well as coming apart slightly at the top seam.

It's so nice to see a proactive dealership - especially in comparison to all the others which in effect treat us, their customers with contempt.

Couldn't agree more - very rare you see a good level of customer service these days.

Handed over to Riverside SEAT now, hopefully they can get the issue resolved - they've been brilliant so far.

Quick update, took the car up to @Riverside SEAT on Friday and had the seat base replaced under warranty.

Not sure if it's a revised part, but the white material seems softer and less brittle - maybe because it's new?

Can't fault the guys there though, very helpful and the customer service received was second to none.

That's good to know as mine is going in in 2 weeks for its 2 year service and I have already sent my dealership photos of the seat trim and a link to this thread.

Sadly, I still haven’t had my tear fixed, just in the process of asking Seat customer services to reconsider the dealer’s assessment as Wear and Tear. Don’t hold out much hope though as they have already implied, they can't or won’t overrule a warranty decision made by a dealer. Sounds to me as they would try or say anything to get out of any responsibility. Hopefully I’m wrong and they will surprise me with a favourable decision.

Same in France, cupra 290 2y old 50000km, Seat France is blaming me for bad usage. I'm trying to fight since october but if it's a matter of time before it happens again what's the point?

So I assume it's hit and miss if these get sorted?

I'm buying a Cupra now that has small rips in both front seats. What are the chances Seat would replace both?
It's still under 3yr warranty and only done 17k

It's very hit and miss and completely down to the dealerships discretion - SEAT seem to have minimal influence on them as well.

If I was in your position, I'd twist their arm and threaten to return/cancel collection of the car unless the seats are fixed.

Too late I'd already bought it and travelled 3 hours to collect.
I got some money off but I'll take it to my local dealer and see what they say.

I bought a 66 Plate Leon Cupra 290 ST Black last week with only 16k on the clock and have noticed exactly the same issue today. I have raised a new case with SEAT UK to hopefully get this resolved as my local dealership didn't want to know. I was not expecting this to be my first post, but I look forward to meeting some of you at events later this year!

I'll be interested to see what they do with yours.
Mine's going into a dealer tomorrow to be looked at.
I'll update when I know what is happening with mine

Just heard back from my Local Dealer (Snows Portsmouth) and it's not covered under warranty.
Apparently mine aren't cracked they are torn through misuse (sliding in and out of the car)

So I'm going to have to live with them being split or get them retrimmed myself (Which I might do and get them to use a better material that won't split.

My ST 290 Black Edition is being returned to VWFS with this matter unresolved - I have an open warranty claim with my local dealer so should be interesting to others how this ends.

I will update the thread in due course.

I'm looking at a 290 that has bucket seats but I'm put off by hearing loads of stories of ripped bucket seats and dealers refusing to help out
I migjy save up for a 300 instead
