Hey everyone...

I have a FR ST 184 which i absolutely love. I have a set of 19" cupra wheels fitted but feel the arch gap is too high so looking for recommendations for lowering (springs/coilovers) and where in south (ideally portsmouth or southampton) could supply and fit them.

I would also like to know what the recommendations are for remaps....

Also last quesrion does anyone know if an exhaust from an FR ST petrol will fit the diesel?

Thanks!

Eibach springs are supposed to be a good choice. You can get them from progressive parts or DPM performance who i believe are both on here to help.
Not sure what garages you have in or around your area but if you have any VAG specific specialists take it there if not any garage would change springs for you I would imagine.

I wouldn’t think the exhaust from a petrol would fit a diesel. It’s a completely different engine and diesel and petrol have different exhaust systems.

REMAP. My personal opinion take it somewhere reputable if you’re looking for a proper map ( APR, REVO, RacingLine etc) or many people get the tuning boxes such as DTUK, TDI TUNING boxes which are customisable in power output and can obviously be put back to stock easily, which seem to do the job for most. Depends on your budget.

Hope this helps and hopefully another member can add some wisdom.

Thanks for the reply. I have seen the tdi tuning box and the power output they quote is impressive to say the least.

Does anyone have images of before and after drop on fr using sorings/coilovers?

Lowering Springs, I’d say Eibach Pro. The Eibach Sportlines are lower but I think a bit too low for UK back roads.

As for remaps, agree take it somewhere reputable and accept it won’t be cheap. Not sure if Revo/Racingline do diesels, but it’s who I’d recommend if they do.

Tuning boxes, I’m not a fan, but if you do go down that route, make sure it’s one that plugs into at least the OBD port, not just a couple of sensors.

Thanks for the replies...

Yes JKM have a good rep. Will give then a call..

Does anyone have images of the different eibach springs fitted? I like my cars low but not getting any younger! Happy to go down the route of coilovers but the reality is with coilovers for me is that once they are on i have never changed the ride height anyway! So if purely for looks then springs seem a logical (not to mention remap saving) cheaper option.

Thanks again. I would only ever go to a reputable company for working on my car.

Interesting about the tuning box... i have had a revo remap in the past and been very happy with results.

No I’m not a fan of Tuning boxes I had a bad experience with one of the top brand tuning boxes on my old MK6 Ibiza. Plugged in correctly engine wouldnt even start. Got a second box and that didn’t work either. Got a third replacement and you guessed it didn’t work either. Would go with a remap if I was you but as I said it’s all opinion

Another thumbs up for JKM, They have looked after my Leons and TTs for the last 10 years. Give Kate a call and she will sort you out. They also do Revo remaps.

Ok fair enough. Will look into "normal" garages as fitting springs can't be difficult.
Springs are 4 hours usually, add on the cost of decent springs that is about right. If your going for cheap springs at a cheap garage you may get it cheaper, depends how much you like your car.

As for Revo remap, would not expect to get that cheaper elsewhere. There is a reason Revo and Racingline charge what they do. All out power, no. But reliable power you can use again and again without blowing your engine up? Certainly.

I appreciate not everyone has disposable income. I quite happily have some Ali Express bargain parts on my car (gear knob cover, foot rest). However the parts that matter (Tyres, engine components) are not. No point having a nice £20k car and then treating it cheaply and it handling/driving like a pig :)
