Hi,

For the Cupra Estate 300 Does anyone know when the GPFs were fitted which stopped all the DSG pops and bangs? I think people are saying 2018 but others are saying if it has copper badges.

Also, does having 4Drive affect the noise as I imagine the exhaust setup is different.

I'm hoping if I do upgrade to not buy one which will be stuck with a restricted exhaust that has no tone or sound.

Thanks

It happened from around September 2018. But the copper badges didn’t quite start till October 2018.

There was was about 2-3 weeks were the cars were being built to MY2019 spec but didn’t have the Copper.

The exhaust is routed different on the 4drive too. The prop shaft to the rear wheels on the 4drive means there is not enough room for the normal resonator.

So the resonator is a different shape and in a different position further back on the cars that have them. GPF cars of course don’t.

Thanks. So 17/67 are fine. But I mean I could always look underneath and look for a fat middle resonator and not a split into two cylinders which is the GPF. Unless the single box isn't a resonator. I'll probably aim for a 17/67 just to be safe.

Sorry edited my post too late. The resonator on the 4 drive is just ahead of the rear axle a little to the passenger side. Unlike the long thin res on the FWD the 4 drive is more boxy and more like the rear silencer.

I had a 17 plate cupra st 4 drive no gpf. I did get a res delete but put it back to standard before i traded the car in. Here is a pic of the original resonator under my car so u know what it looks like, may need to zoom in a bit.

U can see the indentation at the top for where it goes up near propshaft

Thanks. Did you find deleting the resonator gave you the DSG farts?

Absolutely fine. Wife n kids were ok as well and we drive down near south coast quite a few times to visit family too from w.yorks. It doesnt pop and bang like the hatch does. But gives it a nicer tone. I really noticed it for the few weeks i was waiting to pick new car up how quiet standard exhaust is and as it was a 17 plate it didnt even have gpf.
