I'm looking to change the gearbox oil in my manual 184 TDi, as this is a sealed for life fill im struggling to find how much oil i will need. A vid on Youtube said it was 1.3 litres, this was admittedly in a Mk7 Golfd GTi, but i thought it would probably be similar if not the same. I then found referance to 2.1 litres in a workshop manual for the Ibiza. Before i buy the oil can anyone answer this question definitivly?

Thanks

2.3 litres if completely disassembled and 2.1 litres if drained according to the workshop manual.

There is a manual for the 6 speed manual box. Section 3.2 for the volume quantities, Section 5 for the drain/fill procedure.

In addition, Lidl were selling a 12v pump for automotive oil removal takes power from the battery - didn’t look at it in any great detail, but might speed the job up.

Is 2.3 litres the capacity of the dsg gear box?

The OP referred to ‘manual’ gearbox, so the answer is no.

If you use the links that I posted, there are different workshop manuals for the respective manual and DSG gearboxes (although don’t think that there is a 7sp one for newer Cupra models).

You will find the oil capacities there.
