Hi there!

I've been offered a gearbox from an Ibiza Cupra 1.8T gearbox, and I'm thinking of using it in my mk2 Golf 1.8T. Just looking for opinions from owners on here as I've never had the pleasure of driving one, how do the gear ratios in the Cupra suit the 1.8T, would they be long or short, or just right for what it is?

All and any views most welcome, thanks! :)

The Ibiza Cupra 1.8t gearbox is one of the longest petrol gearboxes.

In my eyes it is a perfect gearbox for a MK2 1.8t swap, considering the Ibiza was heavily based on the Golf MK2/MK3 chassis.

i've attached a screenshot of speeds with a 195/55/15 tyre at 3000rpm.

Top theoretical speed at 7000rpm is 170+mph. in 5th
