The lane assist on my Leon is a pain in the *rse I just wish when I turned it off it stayed off.

If it annoys you enough, get one lol
It’s dead simple to do. If I can do it, anyone can.

As someone that's disabled and a carer the £60 - £120 to buy one isn't really an option. If I did have the money I'd be looking at an amplified sub as the standard system isn't that good (that's me being polite it's really ****)

I haven't got my formentor yet but if it's the same system utilised on the latest Audi's and vw's then it's an ok system but nowhere near as intuitive or smooth as the eyesight system on my current Subaru which seems to be years ahead...that uses optical tech though instead of the radar system of the vag cars.....interestingly,Tesla are moving towards the optical systems too.

The current system (Bosch) uses front radar plus the camera located behind the windscreen to map out the road.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but if you're used to Pilot Assist, I would not expect the same thing in the Formentor. I drive an XC90 for work, and that system is one of the best when it comes to autonomous driving. The Pilot Assist runs both the lane assist and ACC in perfect harmony.

The lane assist feature in particular is much better in Volvo cars, I find it reads almost every road but this isn't the case in the Formentor; and whilst it's better than some other systems I've used, it's nowhere as good as Volvo's.

Hmm, that's not my experience at all here - lane assist never misses a beat for me in reading the road very accurately.

Problem is it can't see pot holes.... nice for smooth German autobahns. I used it for the first few weeks with my Ateca back in 2016. Light steering since it was doing the steering but obviously on poorly marked up country roads it can't see the white lines. It would steer into pot holes even if the road was well painted, I knew where they were, I'd steer round them, it would go thru them. The assumption is the road in front is of a good surface and anything big front assist will put the brakes on. Level of automation.

The best time was when I had ACC on and Lane Assist charging down Epping New Road towards a round about, down hill, following a car in front. Reckon all cars had ACC on in front. I'd use engine braking to slow up normally saving the brakes, no, full speed ahead... ofcourse no white lines on the roundabout so intervention required quickly and braking ?. If I was driving it myself I would have been on engine braking, slowing up not mimicking the guys in front on speed.

More comfortable drive to have it off. It has it's fan boys like ACC did when first introduced. Sure it might be a god send on daily motorway commutes with travel assist. Never used it enough to determine whether I'd got Agnes issue, whether in 2016 version, undertaking was moderated... pass on that.

Where I love using Travel Assist is at night in poor weather and shiny/reflective roads - I find it's brilliant at seeing the road ahead even in such weather, better so than me.

I noticed that the Euro versions of the car has a travel assist button on the steering wheel, where in UK versions it just has the shortcut button to assists. How do you enable travel assist then on UK cars?

There is a button on the steering wheel for the UK cars also.

I have a VZ2 and that has it. There is a link to the brochure in the forum somewhere
Could be this ?. It's in the resource section

A simple Search Formentor Brochure found it ?.

(The resource sections are libraries linked to the forum, saves repeating posts where there is a standard solution like a brochure or how to do a procedure. They have an "Overview" entity and a discussion on the side or can. )
