black, white, white, red or grey, grey or matt grey or mat blue thats yuor choice nowLet me guess, to be replaced by two more shades of grey?
Just to add to all the other spectacular shades of grey that Cupra offer?
I might pay £595 for a metallic paint colour (indeed I have done in the past), but £1,935 for a matte finish? And everything apart from solid white will cost: from £595 up to £1935![]()
Really? That’s shocking.I know that Cupra is trying to distance itself from SEAT as an upmarket brand, but I find it kind of cynical that if you buy a SEAT Leon you can get Desire Red as a no-cost option. Buy a Cupra Leon and pay £870 extra for the exact same paint.
Petrol Blue has survived then!Cupra have officially pulled Blue and Green from thre colour options since yesterday

I complained about that to my dealer that if I bought the SEAT the paint cost was included, but extra with the CUPRA. After a few visits to decide what to buy to replace my 280 he eventually gave in and gave me the paint for free.I know that Cupra is trying to distance itself from SEAT as an upmarket brand, but I find it kind of cynical that if you buy a SEAT Leon you can get Desire Red as a no-cost option. Same with anything, if it's more desirable then it costs more. Regardless of whether it costs more to produce. Designer clothes, branded groceries etc.Cupra / Seat brand issues aside, the painting process for solid and metallic colours is the same (primer, base colour coat and clear coat). AFAIK the only difference is the few grammes of metal flake particles in the metallic paint which can’t cost more than a few pounds at most. So IMHO there’s no real justification for charging hundreds more for a metallic colour over a solid colour, but the majority of car manufacturers do (it’s not just Cupra that does this).
With a matte paint finish, I’m assuming there are additional processes involved in painting the car that can help explain / justify the significant price premium.
