They must have a belief that they can demand a higher price than even the more premium products in their shared platform families, of which are better build quality and more established brands. Cupra didn’t start as a premium brand, it was a performance branch, and they’re trying to adapt to being “premium”.

Great way to essentially stall the “phenomenal” performance and brand growth they’ve been enjoying the past couple of years, if you ask me. Either they know what they are doing and us “loyal followers” are just sour at being priced out, or it’s a brave gamble to just get extra cash and push the brand forward. Open to other opinions!
Yes think you are correct and looks like I am on my last CUPRA, hello S3, Golf R?

Yeh, buy a SEAT Leon FR (the top SEAT Leon model) and the paint is included the the price, only the CUPRA Leon doesn't even though it's the same bodyshell. That is why I moaned about it enough to my dealer, that he gave in and included my Black paint for free.
Interestingly, I've just found that the updated SEAT Leon pricing does confirm just this and more. Top spec FR Sport Estate, 1.5 eHybrid is £39,770 (according to the finance calculator, still showing as TBC on the pricelist), whereas a BASE Cupra Leon V1 Estate eHybrid (Both the 204ps guise), is 1.5k over this, and crucially, over the 40k premium tax band. Plus, the Seat still has RED!!

Yeah I might be the same sadly... I can't see anyone wanting the top spec VZ3 for more money / higher monthly payments for less power and just fwd

So you can spec the R now.... comes in cheaper that the Vz3 and I added DCC, 19s, lapiz blue, and the upgraded sound system...

I had a Golf R estate and the issue I had with that car was the amount of unwanted attention it used to get. I remember pulling up to a shopping centre with my wife and two young children, parked up and then five lads just walked over to the car, started looking at it (from a distance) and mumbling to themselves. Everywhere I went in it it got attention of the wrong kind.

Mine was a plain white estate and unfortunately for me at the same time I had it, there were burglaries being done in my area, reported in the local paper and the thieves were driving ....a white golf R estate.

I was followed on a number of occasions by the police and stopped at traffic lights...

I wouldn't have another purely because of that.

Touchwood, so far, not one person has stared or really noticed my car. It just looks like a Leon lol. Even the dark exhaust tips help it blend in.

That being said.... Cupra's new prices are mental

Prices for the Cupra Leon 2024 are far too high.

I bought a Seat Cupra Leon (lux) and pano roof mk3 estate 5 years ago for £25k brand new (online broker).

New top spec Cupra estate is around £50k! Even with online discounts you're looking at over £40k.

5 yrs ago we lived in a completely different reality bro. But yeah, prices are too damn high!

That's 3k less than I've been quoted. Tempting!....
I see in their FAQs that cars might not be registered in your name as first keeper:

Vehicle Registration Process

Most of our supplying dealers are able to register vehicles in your name as the 1st registered keeper. However, certain manufacturers do stipulate alternative ways to apply the discounts.

Sometimes if we bulk order vehicles, manufacturers insist they are registered to us to secure substantial discount support. Please note we will tell you if the vehicle is registered to us and then switched to you on delivery."

With motorsourcegroup, we were the first registered keeper and owner. Might be worth considering.
PS I have no affiliation with motorsourcegroup. Only bought a car from them...

Managed to get one ordered at a good price from a dealer. I looked at the brokers and whilst they were cheaper again they couldn't offer the £99 two year service plan which is a £431 saving if you can get that, and I'd also have to factor in trailer delivery to the tune of £300+ as I wouldn't want it driven to me. Also wouldn't apply my personalised plate, I would have to do that myself after.

I ordered with the extended warranty from a broker. And while they originally said it would be driven to me, they did arrange free trailer delivery when I queried.
Didnt have personalised plate. But was offered a choice of registration plates.

Seems the new pricing is just pie in the sky, i have seen discounts of upto 35% on unregistered cars at some dealers.

I wonder what the 2.0tsi 204 will be priced at ?

I enquired about one of those particular discounted ones. Was very proudly told that those prices are reserved for cash buyers only. PCP buyers can have that price at a ridiculously high APR, or have a less discounted vehicle price at the standard finance rate. Didn’t bother replying.

You could always arrange your own loan and pay them cash. I only buy cars for cash anyway i really don't see the point of PCP.

I had a dealer offer me a prereg pre facelift leon fr sport at 43% discount 4 months old.

The ongoing car finance fee scam that was exposed must really of hit them hard.
I think there will be some good deals in the new year for registered nearly new ones potentially. The list prices are a joke anyway.
