Just a curiosity, does anyone else’s front windscreen take an absolute age to defrost but the back windscreen is fairly quick?

Thanks

The only heat available to defrost the front screen comes from the engine coolant, so doesn't work until the engine starts to warm up. You need to use "traditional" methods if you want to drive away straight away. The rear defrost is electric.

Jug full of lukewarm water on the windscreen warms it through and prevents it fogging up when you get in it to drive first thing.

2 jugs this morning because it was absolutely freezing!

Ah I see, thanks!

I prefer to use a scraper on the front screen while the engine is warming up, however...DO NOT be tempted to use hot water you could crack the screen.

Cupra app has it's uses - turn on air con about 5-10 minutes before I need to leave home. Car is defrosted and nice and toasty inside

Yep lukewarm not hot water.

Been using it for years never had an issue, very quick to deice and it preventing windscreen fog from forming on the inside while the car is getting up to temp is an additional bonus.

Think so and I spoke too soon - just lost all functionality and have to pay £59 to get it back for another year!
When I got mine the brochure/ price list said:
  • 3 years of SEAT Connect Plus is included, with online infotainment connectivity etc, and
  • 10 years of regular SEAT Connect - but it's that basic one which includes "Remote Climatisation (e-HYBRID only)"
I think yours may be a Cupra when mine is a SEAT, but if that functionality disappears before I've had the car 10 years, I won't be happy!
If you still have a brochure for yours it might be worth looking to see what it said?

For what it's worth, the screenshot below is what it said in a Cupra Leon brochure dated 16 Nov 2024.
The one from 16 Aug 2024 is similar.
Even this one from Dec 2023 mentions 10 years of Connect.
But maybe yours is an earlier one before they started doing this sort of thing?

I think the 10 year Connect has been around a while? My previous MK4 was annual subscription for Connect Plus (you could buy 2 years) but I found the price varied for some strange reason and when I complained Seat Connect couldn't offer an explanation. When changing to the present car I confirmed with Seat Connect that the new car would have the free 3 year Connect Plus subscription which they said was introduced sometime around July 2024 production I think? As mine was October 24 production I knew it would now be 3 years free. Whether that makes the 4th year expensive only time will tell.

Mine was born in November 2023. I'll check through paperwork but not holding my breath!
Looking at those brochures I linked above, the Aug 2024 brochure talks about 10 years applying to a wider bunch of functionality including "remote climatisation".
But the Dec 2023 brochure says the 10 years applies to a more limited set of functions (SOS calls etc.) with only 12 months on the wider functions.
So it does look like they changed it after your car. :(
