Hey
The new sennheiser system is ok for most people.
In my opinion it lacks of punch and clarity, Lots of distortion.
I want to upgrade..
Any plug and play amp options out there ?

Had the same issue with the Beats on my first gen Formentor, was expecting the Sennheiser system to be better but I guess not.For the first gen Formentor ARS-Shop has a few plug and play upgrades, amps, speakers, subs and they present their work on YouTube as well. I got their sub which works great in place of the Beats one. Also I got the Match 5.4 dsp amp, powerfull great little thing, which is plug and play with a specific adaptor but delivered the power mainly on the front speakers and the sub. Had to remove it as when parking the warning beeps out the front speakers were extremely loud. I m sure ARS offers amps that deliver power evenly to all speakers, you have to contact them and they will guide you. They specialize in upgrading the VAG family sound systems.

They said they don’t have any upgrades for current model.
Anyone thinks adding amp only with current speakers will be good enough upgrade?

Dont think it will work, your system must have a DSP amp as does mine, needs another DSP in its place, you must wait for somebody like ARS to work on it and find proper solutions. Meantime if your sub is a spare tire sub, like mine, you may look to upgrade the sub and it will make quite a difference. You may use the sub ARS have for the Beats system, if thats the case but have to check with them .

Sorry to hijack the thread, what's the opinions on the standard sound system? I'm struggling to find a car with the sennheiser pack?

Yes there is a subwoofer hidden in the back, a really small one. I am looking for an upgrade but therefor I need the specification from the original system. How much power has the DSP, how much to the sub, Impedance, etc. anyone a spec list?

Id be interested in this......
Jip. Upgraded with the 8 inch sub on original connector. Makes a huge difference. I Think 4 times better. Tomorrow I receive the new mono amplifier to get even more power to the new subwoofer. Will let you know the improvement

Perfect , do you have any model/part numbers you need to order.......? Thanks.

Nope. Doenst fit in the hybrids.

You can use any subwoofer; the standard is 6 inches.

I currently have an 8-inch subwoofer. Option 8. Make sure you use a 2x2-ohm speaker, as that's the same as the standard system.

I bought the following item from this set: the case only

With the following subwoofer:

With the following cable:
the connector part fits the original connector from the sennheiser system (same as harman kardon)
and at the other end I have an molex connector because the sub has a molex connector aswell.
ars stuttgart made the cable for me

The standard system gives like 40watts to the subwoofer, which is not much.
So the power stays the same, but it sound much better because the subwoofer is better, bigger, more RMS, and has a better cabin.

Extra upgrade: Helix amplify 201 (TO GET MORE POWER)
Bought this one aswell, will install it these days when it arrives. This one gets connected to the battery in the back of the car (hybrid). On this you plug in the subwoofer and the original connection. This helix will power up the WATTS to more than the sub can even handle. 4 ohms will give 250W RMS. The subwoofer itself is 200W RMS so will give its best sounds.

I am curious how its sounds, hopefully not 'to much'. We will see.

Price: subwoofer case with subwoofer approx, €375.
Helix amplifcy with cables to connect: €350

Doesnt matter. Stays the same. the one that you send will fit. If you dont have an hybrid, you just have even more space to put a bigger one inside.
