Hi all, I had my car since middle of June, every time I put it into reverse it makes a clunk.

It’s a 1.5 tsi 150 manual, the only way I can get it to not make a noise is if I put it in slowly and push all the way to the edge.

It’s been back to the seat dealer and they say there is nothing wrong, it’s a characteristic of the gearbox, but I’m not convinced I’m not happy with it none of my other cars had a problem.

What’s your thoughts? Any help would be appreciated

Thanks everyone

Mine does it sometimes, especially if I do it whilst the car has a slight bit of motion or I do it roughly. Apart from that, it doesn't really do it.

My 6 speed manual reverse gear crunches since new.
Apparently because reverse doesn't have synchro.
If I'm in a hurry and I'm rough with it, it crunches.
If I do it gently, by moving the gear lever around in neutral, then push the gear lever fully down, then it goes in smoothly.
Definitely don't engage reverse while rolling forward or backwards.
