Just want to say a big shout out to East Yorkshire Retrofit Solutions for fitting the Super Sport steering wheel, heated front screen and factory spec towbar to my 2018 Cupra Ateca.

The guys have done a superb job with all genuine parts, warranty and customer support.

It has made a huge difference for myself with massive big grins in the morning with this cold weather putting on the heated screen to de ice the screen and heated steering for warm hands from the off. The towbar is a great addition ready for the summer with the bikes on the back.

A heated wheel is one of those things that you never really think about until you have it.
My current car is fitted with one (a factory option added by the original owner) and I find I use it far more than I had imagined I would.

Agree wholeheartedly. I have a heated steering wheel and heated front seats in my current car; never really thought about them before and had always considered seat heating with cloth seats would be unnecessary. Having now had both heated seats and steering wheel though, I’d not want to be without them - I use them pretty much every journey this time of year and they’ll be a ‘must have’ in any future car.

Heated front screen? I'm missing something here.

I had the factory option heated front screen on a Skoda Yeti; wires in the glass system. Was essential at this time of year for early morning commuting starts.

What's the system on the Ateca, please?

As mine is a 2018 it has the older version where you can see the wires through the screen but for 2020 onwards like seriously points out you can have the climacoat screen fitted. The Cupra brand never had the option but the Ateca has it on the SEAT brand vehicles. So its possible to have retro fitted. This should have been an option on Cupra vehicles. Its a must have in my opinion which is why I asked if East Yorkshire Retrofit Solutions would be interested in working it all out and installing.

My Friend has a new Skoda (i think a Scala) and he told me he had a Heated Screen, I was sceptical so he showed me and he was right he does. :)

I had one on my 1989 Escort RS and it was simply brilliant. Considering we now have so much Tech (most of which we don't need our cars its a shame we don't all have a Heated Screen or at least an OE option for one .

I had the work Ford Kuga for a few days last week, wasn't keen at all but when it was -3 and i just had to press a button to clear the screen I grew much more fond of it :)

@jt20vt

Thanks for the info; makes sense.

I had a look on the CupraOfficial website a couple of evenings ago and couldn't see any reference to Heated Screen as an option but, from what you say, I ought to be able to get the climacoat version retrofitted to my MY25 Cupra Ateca.

In a way, it's a bit like getting Skoda's Simply Clever parking ticket holder fitted. As the bodyshell for the Ateca is really a Karoq, the bracket in the screen pillar is there available to be used, behind the trim. 😉

That Skoda parking ticket holder is another one of those things that once you've had, you'd never do without.

Karoq is really an Ateca. The Ateca came first, designed by Seat same as Cupra in Spain. The Skoda factory was given the design to execute. When they went on to build the Karoq, they then did the Skoda finishing touches of practicality. The Skoda green ice scraper fits in the fuel cap. Seat did subsequently make some in red or their parts supplier did. The boot configuration can be changed using Skoda parts. Seat stopped selling them.

No heated steering wheel here but a pair of driver leather gloves 30 years old (after loosing one pair I've carefull enough not to loose these). Additional stitching provided by me. 😉 You need the gloves to get out to the car. Toss them off when your hands are warm enough. Does for me. Classic leather glove driving 👌.

The heated windscreen (wired) and mirror is helpful. The climacoat came in, in 2020 as said. Pass on how climacoat works.

The only thing with snow is you have to remember to switch auto wipe off else whilst outside the wipers come into life as the snow melts, then if standing outside you get covered. You only do that once and learn the lesson. You are outside doing the rear sides that aren't heated when the snow shower arrives from the wipers 🫣.

And the washer bottle funnel...(y)
Feels like I need to enquire in a Skoda dealer for that... hmm.

Ok found what we might be talking about:

Skoda on the parts, I have saved on postage by just going to a Skoda parts counter, then Skoda parts are postage free.

Being a 2025 it's likely to have SFD2 meaning the already expensive heated windscreen retrofit gets even more costly :-(

Well I ordered the screen washer bottle funnel cap a low cost solution thanks to the info above. 👍

Interesting conversation with the owner dealer of the Skoda centre that had two Chinese cars in for sale. He bought them to test the market for local folk. Local folk more stayed but he said the cars were very well engineered and exceptional value but locals were not ready for them. I had previously seen the brand in Dorset. As we say, local owner dealers know their stuff being small businessmen not just managers of someone else's operation. Market testing I wouldn't have expected of another brand but there you go, they do their own market analysis.

Got a Simply Clever Screen wash bottle funnel / cap yesterday. (y) (y)

I called into my Seat CUPRA (service) dealer yesterday afternoon to book my Ateca in for a service and asked about the Screen wash bottle funnel / cap.

Parts man was very helpful, looked it up, went to order it in and got a 'You are Excluded' message (or similar). Presumably, as a Seat CUPRA dealer they can't buy an 'exclusive' Skoda Simply Clever part.

No trouble, I went round the corner to the Skoda Dealer, from whom I'd bought my Ateca and been dealing with since they opened in 2007, and made some enquiries.

Talked to their Parts man who went off to look things up. He came back and showed my a picture on his phone of the cap I currently have and said "This is what the system says for your car". Err, yes, I agreed, but I'm after your Simply Clever funnel / cap. To which he reached into his trouser pocket and pulled out a blue plastic item, "is this what you're after?".

"Ah, yes, absolutely" I replied, "are you able to get one in for me?"

"Not necessary; here have this one. I've had it in my desk drawer for some time and won't otherwise be using it".

Result and one happy customer 👏👏(y)(y)

You got a free one. :ROFLMAO: I'm paying for mine when it comes in, next week. No postage. You just need that part number although the parts guy was wanting to dispute whether that was called a parts number or something else. I'm an expert on classification of the body and procedures and diagnosis and cost or pretend to be (ex), so I stuck with the part number as a name. Just needs typing in.

We'll see how easy it is to fit. You dont want screen wash slopping about since it is poisonous. Hopefully the filler cap will get it in without spilling. I always wash the drive down after spillage which always happens with a large bottle slopping it in.

I got my ice scraper from Skoda that way although Ive only used it for taking stones out of the tyres 🫣. Not wide enough for a good scraping session. It will do mirrors but if heated you dont need it.

^^^^ Yup; I got it free. It's got a couple of oily fingerprints on it, but they ought to clean off.

I premix my screenwash and keep it in a 5L bottle in the garage. If I do then spill any, it's the same as comes out of the washer.

Not on the drive either; park in the road, outside my house.
