Hello there I needed a new screen in my Formentor VZ2 this was done via insurance and Autoglass was the company doing the work they have fitted the new front screen but now the car has no ADAS and error codes with them not being able to calibrate it. They have tried to blame my ride height (Racingline lowering springs) but I really doubt this would cause any issues like that.

Has anyone had this issue before?

Thanks

How did they try to calibrate the windscreen camera? Statically with a domino board?

Have them attempt a dynamic calibration (one where they drive the vehicle on the road). Failing that, take it to a dealership/specialist, have them do the calibration then send your windscreen fitter or insurance the bill.

Probably find the camera is not clipped in correctly, see this a lot.

Just had a new windscreen fitted by Auto Windscreens and I cannot rate them highly enough and all done through insurance. They insisted on a dynamic drive test to recalibrate the cameras etc, and I’ve had zero issues and no errors. They said this is now done as standard to ensure there are no issues after you leave. Hope this helps, as you may need to insist that they do this on your vehicle as well.

VWAG recommend a dynamic calibration for most new platforms, with static calibration reserved for cases when dynamic isn't possible (ie poor weather) :)

Quick question, so they drove your car to do this but the minimum time for the windscreen sealer to cure is 6 hours?
How long was your car there?

Hi Matt, it was a couple of hours in total including the calibration.
Apparently it’s a rapid sealant that was used and you are advised to not wash or jet wash the vehicle for a couple of days after the repair.

It’s been many years since I last had a new windscreen fitted - last time was back in the early 2000’s to a mk4 VW Golf. It was in the days when it was the norm to take the car to the windscreen fitting place rather than the fitters come to your home.

From memory, my car was at the fitters for around 2.5 hours from start to finish. I can also remember being told not wash the car for a couple of days or so, plus I was told not to drive enthusiastically; I assumed the normal / usual body flex that happens from manoeuvres such as hard cornering could potentially break the bond between the new screen and the screen sealant if it hadn’t completely cured.

I did as instructed and the seal between the new screen and the car body’s windscreen surround never gave me any issues (presumably water ingress was the main potential issue).
