Hi all, struggling to find the part number for the upper thermostat housing coupling.

Vw parts have a different one listed so I'm stumped.

Hope someone can help without removing to get part number.

First pic is part and second is location.

Cheers

Hi all, struggling to find the part number for the upper thermostat housing coupling.

The illustration you attached above is probably for another car, another engine.
I'm attaching the exact thermostat piping illustrations for your car.
If you are able to identify the part you need from those illustrations, I can tell you the part number.

Hey, I'm after number 5 but the part I was sent has the ports at the wrong angles.

I assume that the pictured part number is the same as the one in the catalogue.

Cheers.

According to the parts catalog, the part in the picture above (5Q0122291CT) is for 300PS (DS4) and 310PS (D02) versions of the 2.0 TSI base engine TT6.
Yours is a 290PS (DM4) version of the same base engine, so some parts differences are expected obviously.

As you can see in the screenshots below, parts catalog shows section 121-056 for your car's "Coolant cooling system".
But curiously, this section contains only a base engine build code (TT6) and no specific engine version build code, while the other "coolant cooling system" sections contain specific engine build code.

In 121-056, there's no specific part number for the part you need, it is shown as a part of another group of parts so it looks like it is not orderable as a separate part. This is also curious because it has specific part numbers in other "coolant cooling system" sections for other engine versions.

Your engine build code (DM4) is shown in two different sections (121-029 and 121-036) but they aren't shown as valid for your car because related build codes do not match with your car's. But I'm inclined to believe this is an omission on VAG parts department's side. There's always the possibility of errors or omissions, and this looks like the case here. I'd say one or more of the related build codes, namely climate of the country (8Z4 for moderate, 8Z5 for not-hot, 8Z6 for hot) and transmission (G1A for 6-speed DSG, G1C for 7-speed DSG), is missing from definition of the part in question. If they were defined correctly, they would have matched your car's build codes.

All of this would probably look very confusing to anyone who's not familiar with the parts catalog and build codes, but not to make this post any longer than it needs to be, my best bet would be the part numbers shown in the sections 121-029 and 121-036 (the ones with your engine code) and those are 5Q0122291DA and 5Q0122291BF. But unfortunately there's no real way to tell the exact one in this case, at least for me. At this point, only another owner with the same engine who had replaced that exact part before could help with the part number or it looks like you better remove the part and get the number.

Hope this helps & do not hesitate to write for further discussion.

Regards,
Serdar

Cheers for taking the time to check and write post, I think I may have found the part.

I also found another one like this, that's why I was asking about the angles on PM.

You may want to check this one too.
