Hi I'm new here and I'm after some advice, I have a light blue seat Ibiza toca and I'm thinking about painting alloys black, I was wondering if it would work on the car or not, after some advice on it. Thanks

Hi

I reckon it will look great. My boxster is blue with black wheels and it gets lots of positive comments. I never really liked black wheels but look good on the right colour car.

Personally, I'd go for Gunmetal or Graphite, over black.

Camouflages brake dust better.

Seriously, a cool colour.

I’d also go for gunmetal / anthracite. I tend to liken maintenance of gloss black alloys as being similar to maintaining a black car - only really looks clean just after washing and quite susceptible to swirl marks even if using a careful, ‘safe’ wash technique. I had anthracite alloys on two previous cars and they disguised the brake dust very well. I also had a set of ferric iron coloured alloys (similar to a darker silver) on my last car and they were also quite good at hiding dirt.

My current car has a set of diamond cut alloys (not by choice; that’s what it came with) - most of the face of the alloys is gloss black as are the recessed sections. In all honesty they don’t suffer too much from brake dust build up; my car’s a full hybrid so I regularly use the regenerative braking function which cuts down on the amount of time I’m using the ‘normal’ brakes.

Edit; @Wayne01 - here’s my Polo GTI that I owned 2016-2020 with a set of Anthracite VW Motorsport alloys. I know the car’s not Alor Blue but hopefully it gives you an idea of of what a blue car / anthracite alloys combination looks like.

I would also go for grey over black will be easier to maintain and you do sometime lose the design of the wheel if black specially in pictures. I think black can also make the wheels look smaller!

As I said mine are black, i am the second owner and black was ordered from factory, personally i would have gone for Silver or Grey but i have had the car a few years now and with the black fabric roof it looks ok.
