Vanishing Samsung Android RAM on your phone or tablet - Solution

This one has been slowly annoying me for two months. Updates couldn't be put through. Delete unused apps clear cache. Update go though. Here we go again several days later update to apps can'r be done due to lack of space....

Well I bought a new tablet with twice the memory A11 rather than the A9 that left me with the problem child. 60GB of storage. Well after doing all the internet things and some that were clearly wrong the problem app was Samsung Core Services app, it had expanded itself to 20GB in the data memory, You do settings, app, all and sort by size.

But not much about whether it was safe to clear the data and cache, it is. Took the plunge and hit clear data after hitting clear the cache. Sanity returned I could then update all the apps the Playstore had lined up, Seems to work fine after I wiped the data... all 20GB.

Then you go down to Storage and clear cache and data. Bob's then your uncle. Image after the clear process.

All behaving now. Something to look out for. The tablet is on Android 16 and obviously a Samsung utility they grafted onto the OS.

I've got Samsung Core Services on my phone, Galaxy S25 Ultra running Android 16 & One UI 8.5, but it doesn't seem to be doing much and phone is running okay.

Hopefully it will stay that way.

It surprised me that it was that, that was grabbing all the memory. Well third of what was available and keeping it.... and still expanding when it could as I freed up space by deleting other apps and clearing caches.

I believe the app is used by Galley pictures to image text so it can be read plus other stuff. What the net says. I do have a considerable number of photos stored on a microSD card in the device which certainly Amazon Photos finds and uploads. So it may well analyse all of your jpegs etc.

Then I use a Chinese language EZ Share software for the EZ WiFi card I have in my bridge camera. The Chinese software I had to switch to when Android was updated but no English version was available. I know the key strokes till it switches to English . It did cross my mind whether the Chinese social media front end was doing something. That especially didnt work when the issue started to manifest itself.

Reckon that 20gb that was being consumed were probably jpegs that it hadn't deleted or associated files from image processing by that "helpful" utility built in. Anyhow something to look out for if it happens again.
