Aaaaaargh!!!

It's taken me ages to work out why my back seat passengers couldn't adjust their aircon just by touching the blue/red buttons - and the online manual was no help (in fact it was misleading), nor was the in-car 'manual'.

Eventually and quite by chance I just happened to see the 'Rear Lock' button on the Climate Control screen.
The option to lock or unlock the rear aircon controls only appears after you've touched the 'rear of car' icon - Aaaargh. Why on earth do you need a Bsc in 'Where Things Are Hidden in The Infotainment System' just to drive a car these days? Sorry the pic's a bit poor - it's dark outside...

I suppose everyone else already knew how to do this?

Well I did, but I can't speak for anyone else.

Some of these, what should be simple things are such a pain, is a definite case of 'just because we can do it doesn't mean we should'!

I remember when we had our Formentor, I had to do 3 or 4 checks and touchscreen selections before driving the thing.. Get in the car, right touch that, now that, oh and that now use the scroll wheel to turn off the ADAS, press that, right seatbelt and we can go :)

Guilty. I'm a design engineer for gas turbine (jet engine) controls. So, I'm far from normal.
I just hope you're more kind & helpful to your pilots than the Cupra Infotainment Design Team are to people like me.

Agree. VAG’s approach seems to be ‘why make things simple and straightforward for customers; let’s make it as unnecessarily complex and frustrating for customers as possible’ 🤦‍♂️.

IMHO Renault’s approach to the ‘unnecessary’ nannying driver aids seems a good one; you can switch them off all in one go. Initially when you first get the car, you choose your personal selection of which driver assistance aids you want to deactivate as a one off operation. Then at the start of each journey, you simply double tap a physical button (yes, a real button) on the dashboard to switch off your chosen selection. Job done! No need to tick / untick boxes on screens or use steering wheel scroll wheels. 🙂
